I pointed out that was because of the fact that Dubas didn't like the other pieces of the deal. I'm just saying that Dubas didn't take the Murray deal.

An interesting new development: apparently some teams are now happy to burn off the first year of the ELC instead of burying the kid in the AHL. The idea is that they can apprentice in the NHL, which will keep their first year numbers lower. You may lose a year of servitude on the back end, but hopefully the numbers on the 2nd contract will be lower.

Dave Nonis was already fired at this point. So it was Shanny or (less likely) Hunter making the final call here. It's been reported in the past that Dubas wanted Murray/Dumoulin/Pouliot in the return package.
