Because Barrie is bad defensively and a rental. It's a simple slanted question that doesn't accurately show the whole picture. - JohnFergusonJr
It's pretty black and white though. Did they need Kadri more than they needed a top 4 RHD. Not talking about Barrie |

I never watched him play live, but watched some old games on nhl network and recently on Sportsnet. He was head and shoulders above everyone else in his era |

He was a local restaurant owner but the post did say he was black so I can see why you concluded he was a looter.

Marchand is orders of magnitude better than Kadri. Poor comparison. - mjones242
Marchand was a 50-60 point player for the first 6 years of his career so while his ceiling has been higher than Kadri, let's not pretend he's Crosby from his rookie season either. The point was, he was a far greater suspension risk that learned his lesson. If he could avoid suspensions, so could Kadri.
You know what kind of players other players like? Guys who don't cost your team playoff series for being over-zealous.
Wrong again. Nobody on the Leafs blamed Kadri. And if they did, they have poopty characters who would rather blame a teammate for sticking up for his teammates than blame themselves for not getting the job done when the pressure was on.
Kadri had to go. We got a half-price Barrie that was miscast and misused under Inflexible Babs.
No he didn't. Barrie is poop defensively regardless of who the coach was and he's a rental.
Barrie wasn't the "answer" but I doubt there were any other d-men of his pedigree that Kadri's value would have allowed for. The only other name we've heard was Brodie's... not exactly known as a stud on the right-side.
Still, I would prefer half-priced Barrie or Brodie over another year of Kadri's playoff antics.
Not worth it, terrible trade. |

Kadri is in his late 20's, if he hasn't learned by now he may not ever. Also, Marchand trained and played with Crosby and Bergeron, who are always the hardest working player on the ice. - PatC80
Wasting your breath there Pat - Kadri is no longer here and more than likely never will be. Good riddance. How many shifts into the series before Goon Jenner takes a run at Nylander, Marner or Matthews? |

Marchand improved after getting more ice time with Bergeron and playing with/learning from Crosby at world cup of hockey. Don't act like Kadri was getting that chance here. Babs wanted him to be a shutdown guy not a 1st line C. We can find cheaper guys in terms of cap hit to play a checking role. |

Marchand was suspended multiple times in his late 20s.
A player doesn't have to play with or train with Crosby and Bergeron to learn their lesson. Terribly illogical argument. |

As in the cheaper but small, weak, zero intensity, zero defensive ability, poopty FO, less effective offensively Kerfoot?
Nah. Better off with Kadri. |

It can help but it doesn't mean it's absolutely necessary for another player like Kadri to learn from his own mistakes.
Again, let's remember why he got suspended; sticking up for a teammate. People exactly like you bemoaned the referees and the NHL for the officiating and the suspension but at the same time condemn Kadri as irredeemable. Can't have it both ways. |

You're still ignoring a simple yes/no question? Keeping Kadri at 4.5M means we could have lost other players due to cap reasons. |

Agree with this. Leafs had that in gardiner who they let walk. I honestly would have gardiner over barrie.
Ya I know gardiner had his game 7 blunders but at some point a goalie has to be a goalie and stop a damn puck. |

Yep, unfortunately.
I mean, sure, the natural-born clause makes some sense as the fear is that a foreign-born individual might be potentially a foreign-compromised President. But hey, who says a natural-born American couldn't be foreign-compromised? |
