Policing and police tactics can be discussed in a civil manner. I don't believe it's race specific what they do in law enforcement.

The riots need to be shut down and acts of violence against political opponents right away.

Hate... Never gonna stop. Somebody somewhere hates somebody else for some reason. Just need civil society to have the same set of rules enforced for everyone.

Ok. But some of the people tasked with rule enforcement are themselves breaking the rules. Now what? Remain silent?
C'mon, bud. Thats part of the reason we got to this point.

If he had done something to address the discrimination against native Americans or first Nations, I'd probably think it was more legitimate. Seems to me, this is a knee jerk reaction to the current milieu and not something thought out.

I'm just surprised no one has made the connection that there was a president with one black parent and one white, for 8 years, and that if there was an opportune time to address any racial injustices, that would have been the time. Half black, half white President, who better to discuss the issue with?

It leads me to believe these riots are more about opportunism, and less about equality.

If he'd done this outside of this context and environment, it would have had a greater legitimacy imo.

Hockey, a mostly white sport, has had its race issues, banana's thrown on ice, fans yelling stupid things, I'm ok with a guy like Bergy saying something.

i have no problem with him saying anything or what he said...

i just think it'd have more impact if he did it outside this context. Just seems forced in the current context and if he'd do something for the people in his native Quebec who have a long history of facing abuse and discrimination, the native indians, then it would seem more genuine to me.

Oh FFS - you make it sound like it would have been better if he said nothing and did nothing.

That is for "ethnic" groups, probably in Montreal. I doubt natives on the reservations, or elsewhere benefit much if at all.

Boston’s definitely a city that needs an enlightened voice towards racial equality. Did some work out there for one week, couldn’t believe I found more racist people than the hillbilly’s I grew up around.

1) a week gives you good perspective?
2) where did you grow up?
