I think the first rounds could be even more exciting with all teams being healthy and rested. Then again, it could be like preseason games where it looks like shinny out and the coaches playing not to lose
- NewYorkNuck

it'll be very interesting for sure.
i don't think anyone can really predict what a certain player/team will look like with all this time off.

One other note that I just saw posted:

They've decided that the four main playoff rounds will be best-of-seven. And there will be re-seeding after EVERY round. That's big!

That’s very big good news thx Carol

Thanks Carol but I'm afraid this thread will slide into the same bullpoop, sorry your fine work will be lost on most.
- A_SteamingLombardi

If it sticks to mostly on the ice during the play ins & PO’s it would help. Leave the hatchets buried also.

He has a beard you could breed mice in.

I just read that line in a novel last night.

Thanks Carol, I agree, NHL playoff experience is largely over rated. Pettersson is intense enough to overcome the new set of rules that inevitably occur in the playoffs.

Congrats Lefty in making it into the blog, if in spirit rather than by name anyway.

Idk how you can say ‘largely overrated’. No experience players get a real eye opener. Any PO run the deeper it goes the more they live the experience & the grind it is.

They are really close. I think Rafferty is better than Stecher and Briesbois had a very good year . Very consistent. The problem is 2 rookies in a bottom pair.
- VANTEL

A healthy top 4 can munch TOI. Bottom pair to keep the top 4 fresher. Rafferty also some PP time.

Looking forward for him to make the jump. Third round pick that looks like he was worth the pick .

Disappointing for OJ falling to at least 3 on the the depth chart

Has Minnesota ever had 50 shots in a game? That’s kinda why i like our chances, seems like an offensive dud of a team.

A drab boring team imo

The best players almost always end up being the best players, regardless of how much experience they had going in. Plus how many games do you think qualifies someone as having playoff experience? Do you have to have won something for that experience to count?

Sure, having been there helps people prepare better, but I don’t think that Hughes or Pettersson will fail because they are new to NHL playoffs while Sutter and Edler will succeed because they have 50 whatever games.

Is he still hurt? I’d imagine he will be on the expanded camp roster if not. Got an outside chance of making it.

Vantel. I keep seeing you bring up some point about people breaking laws because of concealed guns. You are confused. There is no concealment laws on guns in Canada. Someone walking around with a illegal gun can be charged with a number of things... but concealment is not one of them. It makes no sense what you say... it's illegal to carry a handgun period in Canada unless you are on a predetermined route to a range and they want you to keep it concealed on route. They dont want you walking or driving to the range with your side arm on a belt holster etc... that will potentially get you shot by police actually.

They also want you to keep your hunting firearms out of sight while travelling. You got it all backwards.

On the other hand, there is concealment laws on knives. You can be charged for carrying a concealed knife but tens of thousands of people do it anyways.

Canada. The practice of CCW is generally prohibited in Canada. Section 90 of the Criminal Code prohibits carrying a concealed weapon unless authorized for a lawful occupational purpose under the Firearms Act. Section 20 of the Firearms Act allows issuance of an Authorization to Carry (ATC) in limited circumstance

The elite players tend to have good PO’s mostly cuz opportunity & TOI. Unsung heroes are the warriors that help carry a team. It’s not all about scoring.

0 games makes for an eye opener.
Long runs or cup wins is invaluable learning how hard the grind is to reach the pinnacle.

Nothing to do about being new & all about the PO’s are a different beast & overcoming any adversity. There is a lot of non calls & stuff to battle through every shift that isn’t everyday in the regular season.

When I was rewatching the ‘94 cup replays all I could think of is how much clutch & grabbing & more was let go. It was very difficult hockey to play through. It’ll come down like usual to what refs let slide & they always do. Something about too many penalties ruins the PO flow. Personally I hate that mentality 100%. My issue is game to game can be inconsistent calls. It smells of micromanaging the rules from the head office.

I dont think you understand how this law applies to people with firearms. There is no carrying handguns in Canada unless you are in law enforcement. Concealed or not. You talk about people being criminals because of concealment. If they are packing, they are breaking the law and having it visible doesnt get you out of that. You keep presenting this point as the line being crossed. Its not. This is not USA.

Another example is people going to the range. They are not required to have the firearm visible. They will not be charged because it's concealed.

People have tried to explain this to you. You are a criminal if you pack... concealment is moot. The numbers of licenced owners packing is probably nowhere near the tens of thousands you seem to think it is. How many do you know? I know many... they are not the type. I think you misunderstand gun owners or think we are no different than USA.

You can carry a concealed firearm in Canada under section 20 of the firearms act, but you have to be approved by the Chief Firearms Officer of the province you live in.

Okay the technicality . I don't see many people walking around carrying their firearm openly .

I should not have used the word concealed.

Thats an exception that applies to people with law enforcement training and for professional security etc.

Another exception as far as carrying goes is people who work in the bush like prospectors etc. You cant work and hold something like a shotgun or have it on your shoulder etc so they licence you to carry a side arm for bear/cat protection. Otherwise you'll get caught by a predator with the firearm out of reach.

None of this really factors in to what we are talking about though.

Thats right because for concealment to be the point, there would have to be laws permitting carrying a side arm.

The only reason I brought this up is after I explained it to you the first time, I see you came back to the concealment argument again so I figured it was a misunderstanding on carrying laws more than using the wrong word.
