No, you are confusing issues. I’m talking specifically about the response of trained peace officers. If a citizen spat on an officer, I would fully support arresting that person and charging them with assault, but beating the poop out of them is not appropriate, and should cost that officer their job. Like it or not, police are held to a higher standard. - 1970vintage
No I think it is you that is confused. Under no circumstance are you allowed to go up and grab hold of an officer.
You are trying to make exceptions when it fits your story |

Not at all. 1 he didn’t grab 2 he wasn’t threatening 3 police are proving the protesters correct by doing exactly what they are protesting about. |

Reading about Todd Bertuzzi's kid Tag, might be a good mid round pickup for JB. |

I didn't see him grab the cop. I saw him put out his hand. Certainly wasn't threatening. I don't think he deserved having his skull cracked open by a cop. |

I agree, regardless of a grab or a touch, two young trained cops should be able to walk the gentleman aside and explain to him that it’s not a good idea to interfere at this particular moment. That takes about the same amount of time as beating a protester with a baton. I guess one of those actions is more fun than the other. |

What was his purpose of walking up and reaching in to the officers?
How do you know in his 10 second approach as he reached in he wasn't reaching in for the revolver?
Do you know if this protester is not a mental patient on medication?
The only thing we do really know is he shouldn't be doing what he is doing. |

He has something in his hand, a piece of paper or a pamphlet or something. His arms are down, he did no grabbing. Yes, they pushed him (not beat) but the result of their action was about 8 staples in his head. They pushed when pushing wasn’t necessary, they beat with batons when beating isn’t necessary, the fire tear gas into a crowd, or pepper spray, or rubber bullets when it isn’t necessary. These goons get jacked up on the conflict instead of trying to quiet it down.

He still does not deserve a fractured skull.
As Vintage pointed out, the police have extensive training to de-escalate situations not break open the head of peaceful senior citizens protesting against police brutality. |

Two? There was like 50 cops there in that picture.
The guy was protesting, trying to talk to the police, which is a right.
The cops over reacted. Clearly.
They have been suspended, which clearly shows that even their superiors agree it was wrong.
What are we even debating. |

I do believe the police should not be there . Let see how the protesters and looters and rioters all handle things on their own. I mean it is a peaceful demonstration of millions of people gathering . I am sure nothing could go wrong.
It has been now 6 days of millions of people gathering with millions in damage and theft but there has been dozens of incidents that have tarnished the name of the law officers , so move out of the picture and let the public show how to handle things. |

I think the only grabbing was his instinct to grab after being pushed and losing his balance. I think the biggest takeaway, is not that the old man shouldnt have been there, more so that a cops job is to de-escalate a situation in a orderly and safe manner. It doesnt take a veteran cop to identify its subject and adjust its use of force in that situation. The old guy wasnt a threat, and that level of force was completely mismanaged by the two cops. |

It went by much faster tonight.
Didn't even have to assault any mental patients on medication.

It was a push . Not an excessive push, It was a push. The man stumbled from the push .
Unfortunate for the man. He could have easily avoided it by not confronting the police.
