As your new ref, I would quickly give the longest possible suspension to joel. |

I've suggested it before, but follow me here.
We should trade Sandin.
His ceiling is high, therefore he makes one hell of a trade chip. That much is obvious. But with rielly, muzzin, and dermott in the fold at LHD, there really is no benefit in rushing his development. If dubas is committing to this window, Sandins real value is as a trade chip.
Unless one thinks he's rielly next season, he doesn't fit the teams window. There's no sense developing him for 3-5 years, as he at least has to either become a top 4 RHD immediately, or supplant muzzin as LHD to fit that window.
They would still have liljegren to develop through that window as RHD.
I'm willing to bet a package of Sandin, johnsson, Bracco and a pick... Permanently fixes that whole top 4 RHD issue.
Just my against the grain two cents on that one. - joel878
The Caps were win now with Mike Green as their #1 dman for years, they kept their high quality prospect John Carlson for years and let him develop past the perceived "win now mode" of OV and Backstrom etc. They then won with a prime Carlson that easily could have been traded to push that old team over the top in their "prime" days and "win." They regret Forsberg for Erat and still won a Cup. Imagine if they didn't magically keep drafting high end goalies all the time? The Caps would have been done, You don't trade Sandin, because the Cup might never be won until he's 27 in his prime with an older Leafs team, as uncomfortable as that might sound. |

Sandin might pan out as Gunarsson 2.0.
He'll 100percent sure be a 2nd line d-man, but not sure he'll be that top line d.
Liljegren has the higher upside - although as well higher possibility to not pan out as more than a 5/6 D. |

a very dark horse is that Elvis kid in GBJ
I think it will be Draisaitl who take the Hart trophy. - dmnted
Hellebyuck probably should be the runaway winner. I can see people voting for Vasilevskiy, though. |

Carter Hart - a goalie that doesn't fall under the pressure in Philadelphia definitely deserves a mention here as well. |

The point is that you need the cycle. The idea that this is the be all end all the Cap will kill them is not true. It will kill this version of the team. It killed the Blackhawks team losing Ladd/Buff/Niemi etc. but they had reserves and moves ready. It killed the Penguins. It killed the non-winners like the Caps, they lost Green (a guy who scored 30+ goals as a (frank)ing defenseman) and Semin, staples of their contending teams. The Blues let their Captain go to change the room with younger blood they had acumulated.
Sandin is 19...19. In 7 years if he is a 6th dman or a 1st dman, you need to have the next wave ready. |

I don't disagree with this whatsoever. It worked for the caps over time.
Few things though:
If Sandin develops as fast as Carlson, into a player of Carlsons echelon, sign me up. Feel like both may be a reach, but that's my opinion.
Winning late didn't stop the caps from swinging for the fences in what they felt was their true window. If they had what they felt were noticeable holes that held them back, they paid to fill.
Show me another path. Because I don't buy the ones that include selling Marner or Nylander as a solution, that just creates another hole impossible to fill. A big chunk of my logic is I believe Sandin is the best player the team can afford to sell, to alleviate an area of massive concern, without setting the team back somewhere else. |

Rielly Dermott Sandin Liljegren + others.
Muzzin should be the odd man out imo. Always said so. |

Should Aeth’s next contest be MIB’s best blogs?
Also, how do you create an alt?
Also, also does Sandin have more upside than Rielly? - Canada Cup
My next bracket is open only to Greatgig, Mr. Jones and Mussel since everyone else was apparently too confused to vote properly today.

It just occurred to me that if I had at least 16 different Alts, I could potentially make a difference in the Comic Hottie bracket.
Is that a bannable offence?! (asking for an Alt... I mean, a friend) |
