lol cmon Reuby just because it goes against the narrative don't mean it aint true. Its was actually NBC and the UN that reported on it back in April. You all must believe them right? Actual Scientists? lol. We all know countries have famine/hunger but having people admit that shutting down the worlds economies actually contributed MORE to world starvation is the tough thing. Is what it is man. It ain't all about Corona. Just see it from both sides. - LordHumungous
I don't watch American news, especially NBC and have no interest in what UN has to say.
I do see things from both sides, and am happy to see several more people joining me at work as this project slowly ramps up to a decent size, although most don't see the numbers increasing to pre-covid, not until at least mid-fall.
Just because people have concerns about health and safety of themselves and others, doesn't mean they want devastation.
I believe things need to be slowly brought back to a new normal, with several safety measures in place and adhered to. It's not all about the economy.
So I throw it back at ya, come on Lordy, see it from both sides. |

I might be forced to go to the Kitimat LNG job. It’s not that I don’t want to it’s more that I’ve done my time in camps out of town for long durations. I was at Ocelot in the dead of winter & that was an eye opener unto itself. The new normal will be a huge challenge from my experiences. There are many dumbasses in construction with a total disregard to many things let alone hygiene etc. The time out on turnarounds will be my biggest concern. Hoping all will work out & will try my best to be optimistic but I have my reservations still. |

Ya cause visiting 130,000,000 (super inaccurate and arbitrary number) people os sooooo possible and comparable to visiting a hospital. Both are very reasonably doable and very similar. Derp! Just give a covid patient a kiss, you don’t think it’s real. Think of the bragging rights youll have im Alberta when you pull up with your F350 with truck nuts?! Youll be the coolest dudebro in the wastelands dude! Bro! You did what dude? Omg bro! - neem55
buttons pushed Neemer...you make it so easy man...
And actually that number was from your's and Marwood's 'buddies' at the UN and NBC... |

lol I actually agree with that working in a municipality and we are slowly getting things re-opened to a 'new normal' so to speak.. But from my view the economy plays a big role IMO. Many factors. |

US news has been a non starter for me since I can remember. Should be banned on Canadian tv on principle. |

If wifey didn’t love her crime drama so much I’d never have to suffer American tv & all of their pathetic choices of commercials content. I’m fine with movies sports & documentaries with a little bit of other stuff. |

It was utter bliss when we cancelled cable tv & had android boxes for well over a year.
1 hour of a show was only 45 mins of no commercials. Saw the entire GOT & Vikings etc in pure enjoyment. Hockey my weakness forced me back into the abyss of the trappings of cable. |

NBA planning to start July 31st. NHL at the earliest is Aug 1st. Blue Jays reruns & NASCAR would drive anyone outside lol. - Nighthawk
PGA is this weekend and F1 is first week of July I think. NFL sched hasn't changed.
Many are whining now but when PO's are on you can bet they'll be watching lol
Just hopefully not posting... |

I’ll be watching hockey no doubt til work picks up again then when I can. Yes & those who posted ‘cancel the entire season’ shouldn’t be all that active here lol
The NFL is too big of a moneymaker to be shut down but that’s a poor excuse if they don’t nail down the details properly.
MLB can go fly a kite for all I care. |

Was it the snow, the wind or the different cold weather we experience?
I always get a kick out of travellers that are here during winter season, we, as Locals, tell them to be prepared, they say they are, then it hits, and they can't believe it.
Like one guy would say, it snowed for 30 straight days, then the blizzard came.
Always fun to see people scramble for winter or rain gear, after seeing us locals have at least 2 sets of full gear and they have some sort of crappy jacket meant for the elements. Lol |

Well let me put it this way...
Snowed a few feet a day mostly. Work was at a stand still. Nothing to do with the cold. It was all about existing doing a whole lot of nothing but kill time & drink. That was when I decided to can the party attitude & go somewhere to work when we could actually do it instead of collecting a pay cheque doing squat. |

I have only been following the updates from the top health professionals in BC, Alberta, and New Brunswick, all talk about the 'new normal', so I fully expect to see this way of life for at least a year, with some gradual increases every month or so, depending on the way people respond to the 'orders' and the amount of Covid cases resulting or not resulting from these gradual increases in gatherings etc.

I’ve worked many winter jobs & prefer them. Indoors is fine but in the open it’s ridiculously stupid to even consider it anymore. LNG trains I’ll do in spring summer & maybe fall. We don’t construct new paper machines or pulp/paper mills anymore. That we can thank China & the US for in some ways. |

Ocelot is now part of LNGCanada, and the place you were here for no longer exists.
I gather you didn't like shoveling. |

On shovelling...
Labourers shovelled camps roofs of snow daily due to they were flat. Want pipe it’s go the labourers get him to shovel out pipe in the lay down to identify the right spool to be delivered. Then go to the teamsters to get it delivered to the crane for a lift. We find the pipe. Teamsters say not today. Rinse & repeat for 2 weeks. Not a thing accomplished. That doesn’t even touch on all the erected steel is icy & so unsafe its retarded. So what is there to do? Show up spin wheels go back to camp eat & drink.
I wasn’t a labourer. They had work to do we rarely did. |

Larionov said Podkolzen is a steal for. Canucks . He said he will work carefully with him this year. He has kept close communication with Travis and said he will he him with his development.
When asked who does Podz remind him of he said Messier. He also said he seen Hoglander at the world Jrs and he is quite the player. He said Canucks future looks good.
Tryamkin is said to be wanting 2-3 mil . I think anything over 1.2 is too much.

I’ve admired Larionov since he came over as a Canuck. It was too bad we let him slip away. I’d like him to have a role in management here for sure. A Russian influence would be a good add for diversity & different point of view going forward.
As for Tree he gets what he is worth & it ain’t 3 smil. If signed I’d say trade away Stecher save the cap space. 2/1.5m my offer. |

I see the roster as very overloaded on Wingers caused by a few things. Some lousy contracts/term, Ferlands health & some RFA’a/UFA’s worthy of resigning.
Cap space is the other issue with prospects coming up very soon & needing spots. Pearson unlikely to be resigned but he has fit in nicely. Toffoli is a key piece & should be resigned on merit alone. Looking solid at C imo. RHD is a big job to get filled whether Tanev gets a 1yr deal to wait out the cap issues. Woo is at least a year to 3 away to be ready. LHD is well stocked. G is looking solid for many years.
All in all it’s going to be interesting & difficult for JB & company this offseason & beyond. Contracts out being most pressing. |
