As much as I think Pearson is a good deal I would trade him and recoup a pick.
You have players that can play there .
I will let the team do what they need to . Unlike some in here , seems like Jim and the boys know what they are doing even though the NHL will remove 5 mil off their original cap announcement.
People have to remember every other team lost that same 5 mil in cap space. - VANTEL
When did the cap drop 5m?

Without knowing what may transpire, as a result of this shutdown, I wouldnt be making rash decisions.
This is an opinion based on things being normal and players getting 6, 7 and 8 million dollar contracts.
I can see players taking 1 or 2 year deals hoping to cash in when things maybe/if things get back to the old normal.
I can easily see Jake and Gaudette taking 1 year deals and Tanev as well.
I do agree, losing Tanev will be a big hole to fill. - Reubenkincade
You are 100 % correct
Tanev did say he wants to stay here and he expects a salary drop.
So many different possibilities and scenarios . I do expect someone to get traded seein we have too many forwards and more coming on the way. I expect Sven will be part of the deal. |

Yup, at a very high cost. Cumbersome contracts and picks & prospects out the door.
Two fantastic picks dropped in his lap, though. - Marwood
Great strategy falling back in the drafts.

Baertschi is a guy that will cost you assets to get rid of, something the Canucks are in short supply of. Not a good situation to be in. Let him play in the “A” and ride out his contract. |

I expect some type of rollback on salaries, who knows what may transpire.
Jeff Skinner making more than Crosby is mind-boggling.
And these ridiculous contracts were why the salary cap got introduced, supposedly.

When did the cap drop 5m? - Nighthawk
Before the draft the NHL announced the salary cap was going up from 81.5 to 84.5 next year . That is why Capfriendly shows it at 84.5 because there has been no other statement yet from the NHL that the salary will be flat. There was the added escrow talk among that it was going up 2-3 mil .
All of that is all off the table now.
Another thing is if fans are not allowed in the buildings next year no one has to worry about a season that may not happen |

Many many teams are going to be wheeling and dealing this off season. Gonna suck to be an UFA |

RD used little to no imagination. Premature to even guess what will happen. Anyones guess is good as the next guy’s. |

No one want's him, passed through waivers twice. |

It stays the same as last year but teams were told at first that is is going up. That now is gone.
It doesn't matter teams will figure it out. |

Yup UFA’s will feel the pinch the most. Also see more bridge deals happening. A Baertschi could agree to termination for the purpose of being UFA if he wants a change of scenery bad enough. |

Different ball of wax in the offseason when teams haven’t filled out rosters & cap space. |

Why would he give up over 3 mil for nothing? |

At the time we had no prospects worth speaking of ready for the jump. Took time to dismantle an older team laden with anchor contracts. |

I wouldn’t but if he wants an NHL job it is an option to sign for 1 year. Maybe a 2m gamble is better in his mind if he chooses so. |

30 teams passed on him at half price. I think his NHL days are limited and it will be for a million or less. |
