Who knows whats going on. Rick D seems to be getting contradicted on contract reports more often than not and I don't mean he got it wrong... I mean complete opposites. We'll see how this pans out but it will be 180 degrees backwards again I bet just like Boeser and Edler most recently. Sometimes he breaks a signing first... which also looks funny because he's the first to report the massive contradiction he made.

It could be Tanev's way of lighting a fire under his agent to get a deal in the works.

Save money fire the agent & do his own deal. - Nighthawk
I wonder if any player will do that this year |

I like RD but I highly doubt he knows value or inside contract talks. He’s no different than us. I had Boeser at 6m some said 7m. - Nighthawk
Rick D is supposed to be an agent insider.
Rick D reported 7 years and said that there would be no bridge deal and Boeser was going to miss the season opener and to prepare for a hold out. Brock signed the same week Rick D said that.
He had Edler holding out for 6 years. That wasnt even on the table we find out.
Even if he is being played by agents, that compromises his reliability on contract reports.
With that being said, it makes sense that there will be no one year hometown discount. It would be hard to get this one wrong in my opinion.(even though I said he probably would earlier). |

1 question his $1.2m as too low. What Tree seeks is one thing what he gets/deserves is another. Just an opinion of mine. 2/1.5m I stick to. |

Keep spit balling. I like that offer as far as making cap space for re-signing or UFA's if it comes down to that instead. |

Top end talent?
I'm not sure where you've seen his top end talent on display. He's trending upwards but top end talent usually shows a hell of a lot better than he has.
I'm just trying to be realistic about Podz. Ovechkin, kucherov... not a chance. He doesnt have that kind of top end talent potential at all. So far he looks like a grinder who has some offensive ability that needs a whole lot of work and development which is ok. That argument can be made about his physical attributes perhaps. His hands and awareness... not at all.
Benning made it pretty clear they drafted for need instead of potential. They wanted his type of play, size and grit and readiness to step in the line up immediately after his KHL contract is up. I see all of that in Podz but I think there was better high end talent potential at 10oa. - boonerbuck
Consensus top 10 pick... top5 on many draftboards. I feel like that’s the literal definition of top end talent in terms of prospects. |

I asked why he keeps getting compared to players like OV and Kucherov when there is other realistic comparables and you said this....
Well... because he has the top end talent? They didnt compare svechnikov to josh bailey either. For good reason
Now you are saying it was because he was a consensus top 10 pick. One statement doesnt look anything like the other and the rewrite doesnt fit the original exchange.
He isnt a top end talent. Canucks picked him to fill a need. Who knows how far he would have fell with the names still on the board but the Canucks wanted his type of player specifically.
He'll be an NHLer but a complimentary player most likely in my opinion. |

So I posted on the Rags blog...
Doesn’t matter if the hubs are East & West.
No fans so games can be played at anytime for viewership covering all TZ’s. If both hubs are out West staggered game times easily does this. Out East if both hubs we’ e watched 10am weekend games before.
The best choice is where the pandemic is best controlled & that’s not in the US overall. Add the civil unrest & it further makes less sense.
Vancouver & Edmonton both are clear leaders for criteria to proceed for a hub.
Scheduling is probably at least 2 games maybe 3 per day per venue.
Thoughts? Thx |

Not a fan of comparables but here goes anyways...
He is a complimentary player by skill set but brings a motor rarely found let alone in a prospect. Josh Anderson but higher ceiling. |

I don’t know what to tell you, but high draft picks being top tier talent is what i was talking about the whole time. I mentioned svech cause he was another highly touted like podz. Some scouts had podz at 3. Central had him at the top of all European skaters... so yeah. I don’t understand what you’re trying to say, but many professional hockey scouts had him as a easy top6 possibly elite level winger. |

Vegas I get but 100*F sucks.
Hogtown poor covid containment.
If either gets it I’d cry politics aka BS lol
UND makes sense to me for a US hub. |
