Vegas I get but 100*F sucks.
Hogtown poor covid containment.
If either gets it I’d cry politics aka BS lol
UND makes sense to me for a US hub. - Nighthawk
Hate to admit it but Vegas makes a lot of sense for a hub city. Gives the Golden Showers Home Ice but it is what it is. We were there last August and it was 39c at 11 am at the pool...love that place!!
Doesn’t matter if the hubs are East & West.
No fans so games can be played at anytime for viewership covering all TZ’s. If both hubs are out West staggered game times easily does this. Out East if both hubs we’ e watched 10am weekend games before.
The best choice is where the pandemic is best controlled & that’s not in the US overall. Add the civil unrest & it further makes less sense.
Vancouver & Edmonton both are clear leaders for criteria to proceed for a hub.
Scheduling is probably at least 2 games maybe 3 per day per venue.
Thoughts? Thx - Nighthawk
What ever they do, it needs to be in the same country otherwise they need to have a 14 day isolation period before a east and west team play in the finals. Unless Canada changes it's policy on the isolation period and I don't like that at all.
Projecting ahead beyond Pods arrival & into his 2 or 3rd season. Toffoli is resigned.
Miller Petey Podk
Hoagie Bo Toffoli
Jake Gaudette Lind
Leivo MacEwen ???
Lots of grit in all 3 lines & diversity in skill sets. The D will have plenty of offence by then with Hughes Rathbone Myers & OJ. Woo I anticipate as ready to add the grit along with 1 other defensive RHD man.

In August then social distancing is normal. Nobody outside in that heat lol.
When a kid in 1970 we were in Vegas in September & the car door handle so hot you had to be quick to open it. Dipped in the pool & it was anything but refreshing. It was soup & we were dry as soon as we got out lol

Let them play it in the states!
There's absolutely no need to compromise our medical rules for sport, especially in larger centres.
The other thing I find odd is that all of the supposed hub cities are actual NHL cities. There are no spectators, therefore seating shouldn't matter. Actually the things that should matter the most are player and family comfort as well as ability to get cameras on the action.
I think there are many venues being overlooked because they aren't traditional NHL venues.

I don’t know what to tell you, but high draft picks being top tier talent is what i was talking about the whole time. I mentioned svech cause he was another highly touted like podz. Some scouts had podz at 3. Central had him at the top of all European skaters... so yeah. I don’t understand what you’re trying to say, but many professional hockey scouts had him as a easy top6 possibly elite level winger. - neem55
What I'm saying is clear. Top 10 in the draft doesnt equate to a OV comparable. OV is a generational player. Podz doesnt even play anywhere near as physical and certainly doesnt have the hands or the wheels. You disagreed because he was a consensus top 10. It a crazy argument you are making and seems to change as it goes.
I think Vantel is down to earth with his Hertl comparable. He's a middling complementary player and was he was drafted at 17th. His numbers before he made the sharks were considerably better but that wasnt in the KHL.
I can't disagree with your out of place argument though. It's true both Pods and OV were top 10 picks. So I guess you cant be wrong.

If everyone is in a bubble anyways keep the money in Canada as well as lower cost using the Canadian dollar. The US hasn’t shown it’s as safe there with only Brazil being worse as of now. Player safety better served up here.
I would be embarrassed if hockey players and support for the playoffs in Canada all get special treatment at a time when everyone is seeing shortages on pandemic supplies though.
I almost lost my father through this while they smothered us in restrictions and denied him testing for his liver failure and all. I wasnt allowed to visit or give them a phone charger at the door so we could say our good byes when he was near death. He was denied proper treatment and sent home. So I'm not big on people in sports getting special treatment especially when there is barely any economy bump from this. A drop in a bucket more or less.

I don't care if it is in Canada I don't think there would be an advantage to Canucks. Play them in the US that's fine.

I agree, just need the league and players union's stamp of approval.
However, players and family must abide by policies set in place.
That trade hurt, but makes a pretty logical hockey trade. Was pretty neat to see a $$ breakdown to go with the lines. Thanks Nighthawk. You are a pretty cool cat.

Saves headaches on how it works out & fits in. Great tool to experiment with doing all the work for line-ups etc.
I’d bet Chris Tanev would take a 1 year contract Four 4 mill or less to stay in van at this point of his career..he’s built a 20+ million dollar fortune in van, as a in drafted stay at home defence man.. he’s been pure class since day 1, now playing mentor to one of the best defence prospects I. The world..
That’s the sort of player you want the young stars spending time with. As sick as it would be locking up Tyler toffi for a couple years, I’d prioritize stability on defence with such a young team.
Plus how hard would it burn letting him sign in Toronto for nothing and stabilize their d while we take a huge step back defensively
