Freidman says he gets the feeling talking to some players the the majority are looking to return to play.
He also said the CBA also ties into escrow relief. He feels all things should be completed in June or July
MLB owners offered the players a 72 game schedule and pro rated salary the players refused.Lets see if the season gets cancelled.

Thoughts on American (or Canadian if you prefer) schools teaching Arabic numerals to students in public school? - 1970vintage

Why not? Why not other numeric systems?
It shouldn't happen too early, should have a firm grasp of your own beforehand. - golfingsince
Sorry, not to pick on you, it was a gag question. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. is the Arabic numeric system, the one that virtually everyone uses. As Nighty points out, prior to the world adopting from Roman numerals there were no negative numbers or 0. |

The Hindu-Arabic numeric system is superior. Keeping it as the standard simplifies all things. - Nighthawk
Yeah sorry, It doesn't simplify it for the billions of living people currently not using it. |

This is why I don’t think players (ufa’s) will accept shorter term, or lower $ contracts. They will be in the same boat as players under contract (escrow wise). You won’t get Toffoli on the cheap, because relative to his peers he doesn’t want to take less $, even if he won’t actually be paid the full salary. |

I never knew that, thanks to both of you. I'll research it some more.
However, I will stand that it doesn't simply things for everyone. I grew up learning imperial and metric....as did many of us. Had the US adopted the same policy we'd probably be universally metric by now. Still, learning both was essential at that time in order to facilitate conversion. |

Not disagreeing. It was a joke question intended to point out people’s prejudice as Arabic numerals are the current standard for virtually everyone, but as it turns out, most people don’t know it. I didn’t realize it until a couple weeks ago when my wife asked me the same question, and I’ve seen it asked on social media (twitter) for the same reason, to point out certain people’s ignorance. I apologize, I thought this had made the rounds enough that it would generate some laughs. |

Which is probably fair market value. Just saying, don’t expect Tanev to sign a one year deal, or for much lower than market value. Or to trade away a player, like Bear, for an actual asset (draft pick). That poop won’t happen because of Covid. |

I expect Marky and Toffoli will sign here.
Benning said in an interview two days ago they will look at moving a forward. I think Tanev they will circle back to if they can not find a trade for a forward for a young Dman.
I am not concerned very much they will get the roster they want.

People think we(European) have little connection to eastern people. They don't know much about their ancient descendants. All languages in Europe with the exception of Finnish and Hungarian(and some rare dialects) have developed from ancient Iranian. Europe's oldest language is Irish. It's path on the Indo Ayran branch out of Iran reaches back 12k years over multiple cultures. I like telling people this when I hear their anti Iran rhetoric about them contributing nothing to human development.

How are your cherries doing? - golfingsince
Soggy, but there’s loads and they are still on the branch. Squirrels and jays haven’t eaten them all yet. I have a couple of net bags this year so hopefully will get a few to eat. I’m guessing three more weeks and they’ll be ready.
How are yours? |
