I'm reading The Stranger In The Woods, about a guy who lived alone in the Maine forest for 27 years. Very interesting. Why Buddhism Is True by Robert Wright was a good one recently. I set a goal to read fifty books this year but I'm off pace currently.

I’ve had lots of political disagreements with Jones. He suggested a book I might want to read that has informed his view point. I ordered that book.

For the Washington post writer you are referring to it actually is.

Quote at start of his article is lazy, not correct and even vile - simply an accusation to put a person that actually put in an intellectual effort into using facts to base his views and policy recommendations on in a 'bad daylight' - just because the conclusions are different than the (almost religious) beliefs of the Washington post writer.

Quote I am referring to:
"He has waged a relentless crusade against those who would try to alleviate poverty or equalize opportunity through welfare, affirmative action or anything else that interferes with the operation of free markets."

(Not to mention the fact that the writer criticizes Sowell for being a son of a maid)

Either the writer simply can't follow the argument, he didn't read Sowell's books, or he is afraid to lose his religion (and job).

It didn't start out hard but after a little bit of work it got harder. The deeper I researched the harder it got. I would go a little further and even harder. That kept happening and I kept going and going and going.....


until all of a sudden, without too much warning and an extreme moment of euphoria-laced enlightenment, I came to my decision.

That’s fabulous. Congratulations and good luck. All good here. Had a visit from my kid who I hadn’t seen since Christmas. He’s finished law school and moving from Kingston to Toronto next week so he’ll be closer.
