I don’t think either of those are a fit. Calgary already has 3 centers better than kerfoot and already pretty deep on LW.
I also imagine that if we move Bennett it will be for futures to make cap space or for a bottom 6 RW. - RedC21
Toronto already has three centres better than Kerfoot too.
Make us an offer involving a defenceman. |

They literally have 1 RHD under contract, Rasmus Andersson and they just gave him an extension at 4.5 AAV for 6 years. |

Maybe, but it just doesn’t seem to be worth the effort. If you’ve got some better description of his work post it but that was the first that popped up, it didn’t seem appealing on a quick read and I didn’t bother to look any further. It’s an argument on a hockey site. But as I said, if you’ve got a something better, pass it on. - Canada Cup
If you're not looking to read one of his many good books (/kindle) there are some good interviews with him on youtube.
If not, this 1980 interview is still very relevant

Johnsson can play RW. Kerfoot sucks at center so you'd never put him there anyway.
Leafs need more guys like Bennett and putting him with talented players like Matthews, Marner and Tavares should boost his offense. - JohnFergusonJr
If johnsson can play RW I would be open to that. His offence could also see a boost since Calgary can offer him more minutes and better line mates as well since he won’t be stuck on toronto’s 3rd line. |

Yup, my initial proposal to trading for kap would see futures going to Toronto. Doing that would allow the leafs pursue a free agent D. Otherwise Calgary and Toronto aren’t really a fit as trade partners. |

Leafs have zero need for any future pieces for Kapanen. 1st round picks and prospects don't bring more than a 23 year old Kapanen.
Leafs need bigger, stronger, tougher, sandpaper forwards and they need the same on defense, a 1st and a 2nd pair RHD who can actually play defense. |

Interesting. Still a strong push within NBA players not to play partly out of solidarity with BLM. Not clear how widespread but certainly discussed on call with a large group of leading players including Lowry, Durant, etc.
Also their PA saying likely to be NO fans for entire 20-21 season. Same for hockey?

I agree with you. I just think that no team is lining up to help the leafs and are going to offer them fair value in terms of actual players. The leafs would have a better chance at getting value for him by trading him for futures and then using the cap space to acquire the player they need.

There is zero incentive for the Leafs to do that before trading Kerfoot and Johnsson, both inferior players and older. |
