Thank you for your post. Unfortunately it did not meet the high standards of our “Win the Onesie” contest. We look forward to additional entries. Best of luck to you.

Kapanen is younger and better than Johnsson and Kerfoot.

Great speed, can kill penalties, feisty player and they should definitely keep him. He just needs to be more accurate with the chances his great speed creates.

Definitely a keeper more than the others in his category on this team.

- JohnFergusonJr

He is, indeed, much better than both Johnsson and Kerfoot. And he has made a habit of scoring clutch goals throughout his career.

He's a keeper.

He's one of those keepers but not untouchables, like Hyman. The Leafs need to dump a lot of these soft, one-dimensional players but Kapanen can stay long before the others.

He'd be deadly if he hit the net. Matthews even mentioned it during a TV interview.

I agree. I'd move Johnsson, Kerfoot and a few others before moving Kapanen.

for me, he was also part of the Kessel deal. It shows that the Leafs got some value from that trade with a player that is still with the team.

Some of you guys are brainwashed or crazy.
'Lucky that blacks aren't looking for revenge'
Really?
Let's go back 3million years back - and we're basically talking about a family feud. That's in the same category of crazy as some of the remarks we're reading here...
To blame racism for everything bad that has happened to blacks in the US is a nice election slogan, but it really is not helping the poor.
What about mentioning how single parent families are a big contributor to next generation staying poor?
Some self reflection is needed as well.

With all the other high end shooters the Leafs have, you'd have to think he'd figure it out and be able to score 30 pretty easily in his prime. He's so young, he's got room to grow for sure.

for me, he was also part of the Kessel deal. It shows that the Leafs got some value from that trade with a player that is still with the team.

Leafs got robbed in that Kessel deal but it's nice that they did at least get something useful out of it.

Today is known as Loving Day in the US. It is the anniversary in 1967 when the US Supreme Court struck down laws prohibiting interracial marriage.

1967

It was only the next year that discrimination in the rental of housing was made illegal even though it continued.

I’ll say it again. Lots of things contribute to poverty.

Poverty needs to be addressed.

Racism adds to the problems of poverty for blacks. Racism adds other non economic (getting (frank)ing killed by the cops) problems for blacks.

Racism needs to be addressed.

There is a unique opportunity right now when the attention of the country is focuses on racism and even Republican politicians have acknowledged the need to do something.

This isn’t complicated. At some point not grasping it suggests other things at play.

It's ignorance. How you can you have a conversation with someone who refuses to acknowledge what the real problems are? Or how this happened? Why it happened. Or at least be open to the possibility that he might be wrong? These types would rather deflect, point the finger and victimize the victims.

HockeyBuzz Code of Conduct

2. Please keep threads on-topic
Try to keep things on-topic. If Eklund writes a blog on Eastern Conference trade rumors, and you want to talk about the latest NHL video game, please locate the appropriate thread, or create a new one, in the forums.

And yes, there is some more leeway given for general discussion on the threads of the team’s bloggers. But when the thread is devoted to discussing hockey, keep to the point at hand.

So do you believe blacks have been afforded the same opportunities as whites in Canada and the USA? Blacks aren't asking for handouts. They're asking to be treated equally and afforded the same rights as white people. Is this an impossible expectation?

Agreed. However, there's no hockey being played right now. What would you like to talk about? Drew Doughty's family tree?

Taxes and why that's the reason Tavares will never sign with the Leafs.
