You guys got quite the storm today didn't you? - VANTEL
Certain parts of Calgary got hammered with golf ball sized hail...tons of damage. |

I’d think a sign & trade is JB’s 1st option.
So many possible moving parts we need a domino to fall. Be a fun & busy offseason to come you can bet on it. - Nighthawk
Soon as they make him an offer he says no thanks and is entitled to arbitration. If Canucks sign him to what the arbitrator awards him then they can not trade him for one year. |

He can go that route. I can live with letting him walk if he goes there. Bring up Rafferty & save cap. ELC’s will be mandatory as far as I can see. So much is needed to be done. Hoagie almost gets in on that alone. |

Here is a funny thing the Canucks could fill one spot with Sven. The difference is 1.2 . His actual salary next year is 2.4 so in real dollars it is 300 K difference less escrow.
If they can not move him his spot is mostly paid for.
I don't think they want to bring him back there might be bad blood but it is an option. |

To sign him they would first have to offer him a contract, which he could decline, and file for arbitration. He might then get awarded an amount the Canucks aren’t comfortable with, and they couldn’t trade him. |

True if he chooses arbitration. I don’t qualify him is the risk I take. Rather trade his rights 1st if can be done. |

Doubt you can trade his rights when everyone knows he will be a FA shortly. |

Different situation, but I appreciate the effort. Stecher is an RFA with arbitration rights. A team trading for him prior to the deadline (Canucks offering him a QO) would be in the same situation. Now, maybe that would be ok for them, they might feel that $3+m for a 6/7/8 D man is worth it. But if the Canucks don’t offer a QO, he is instantly an UFA, and they can no longer trade him. |

Tanev they could probably trade for a 3rd if they didn’t think they could agree on a contract. I bet there would be teams willing to give something to negotiate early, especially after he’s just won the cup. |
