I don’t think there’s a chance in hell Risto would even consider extending here let alone them trying to - sbroads24
I bet his tone would change if we start making the playoffs
Winning is funny that way |

I agree there, think a lot of things would change if these guys got a smell of winning andcthe playoffs. |

Makes too much sense that he is the odd one out. Borgen can replace the physicality he brings and have the same on ice impact at 1/5 the cost. - Pegullaville
That’s quite a bit of overconfidence in a guy who will be 24, that’s played in ONLY 4 NHL games |

You mean not getting a good return on a trade? I agree. Should have been done two years ago.
If Botts really turned down Ehlers for Risto he’s a moron - sbroads24

Did Homie or 89 say it?? |

Sabre’s Twitter. Specifically the die by the blade writer Chad DeDominicis.
Said they were close on a deal and Botts backed out |

Wouldn't the Sabres be in trouble with the league if they were playing a guy who was injured?
Seems kinda fishy. - Boss34
Not if he was cleared and said he was ok. All he has to do is file a grievance if he feels he's being put in danger because he's not healthy enough to play. I don't think there's a guy in the league that doesn't play hurt at one point or another throughout the year. |

Well to be honest, he really didn't shut many people down while he was here, he was a minus every year he was here. Funny how his last year here he was a minus 23, and his 1st year in St.Louis he was a plus 22. Better team, better players around him, better results. - Buff36
The biggest difference was that he wasn’t used like a defensive 3C in StL
If i remember right, his zone starts went to about 50% with them as opposed to low40s with us |

I’d take that with a grain of salt
Especially if he’s not saying what other pieces were involved
They could’ve wanted something else in addition that made him balk |

The whole situation seems odd. Why didn't anyone on the team or coaching staff notice his issue at practice?
Couldn't be that bad, kinda sounds like an excuse.
I agree that most players play hurt, because they love to play the game.

I’m sure the staff knew
Especially if he saw a doctor & was doing eye exercises or whatever
But was he telling them he was “fine” when he wasn’t?
Maybe the Sabres were just taking his word for it

That would be equivalent to you hiccuping saying you were fine to drive home after you drank 2 beers. |

The ol’ “move Dahlin to Center” / “GMTM got a raw deal” post
Great contribution (it wasn’t really) |

Good analogy .
If hutton is saying "I'm fine" , and management/ team doctors allow him to play. It's on Hutton not kym. |

Might not be the reasons i typically see a “bridge” deal
But it’s still taking a short term contract with the idea that in a year or 2 you’ll get a bigger long term one
Bc of the Cap not going up,
I could see a lot of players take this route - jdfitz77
Ya, I see a difference between a player-driven short-term deal, and a Bridge (also labeled a Prove-it deal for a reason) based on inconsistent performance not justifying a long term, higher priced deal.
That is how I see it. |

He was put at RW because the Sabres had the best two-way/top face off man in the league, and then drafted Jack Eichel... are you new or something? LoL - SuperCat
yeah I'm new, and look how great Sam's played at C under two different coaches since God was traded. |
