Well Botts really should have grown a pair and told them how much they were (frank)ing up the potential return, and should have never taken the St. Louis deal as it was. - Buff36
GMTM would have never done it. He would've got poop canned before agreeing to deal a Conn Smythe Selke Winner for Super Sniper Tage Thompson. Right the wrong and bring him back. GMTM lives matter.
First move i'm making if I'm Adams is shipping SSTT to the Devils for free. I've been saying it for years and it isn't even close. That guy blows. Totally understand why there are some on here that still like him.

--Murray was hired
--tank-one (2014)

--Bylsma was hired
--Murray was fired
--Bylsma was fired
--Botts was hired
--Housley was hired
--Russ Brandon resigned
--Housley was fired
--Ralph was hired

there are three constants:
--the pegulas ownership
--no hockey ops president as a go-between
--three rookie gm's in a row
there's no joy in mudville - Michael Pachla
Opinions vary.
Change was needed and the outcome was richly deserved. I am very excited to be here |

Probably worth mentioning that the contract of former Sabres GM Tim Murray expires in two weeks. He has still been on the Sabres books until June 30. |

not because they fired Botts, but because of what they did once they fired him

two rookie gm's, two very poor performances on the trade front...don't think that the better gm's around the league aren't licking their chops at the thought of dealing with adams...
not sure what the ratio is between new gm's to bad first trades (or more) as gm, but methinks it happens often...
what would make anyone believe that adams will be able to land a #2 center at a reasonable cost? |

#Sabres have also let go assistant GMs Randy Sexton and Steve Greeley. Have to think both will be sought after. When Greeley was hired in BUF, he was considered one of the young, up-and-comers in #NHL management circles.

I can tell you they have been grooming Adams for this since they bought the Sabres. They wanted him to get experience in every part of the operation to get ready for this. He's been with the organization since 2009 starting as a development coach and then assistant coach. |

One thing that doesn't get mentioned much is that Adams did spend time as a players agent for a while when he first retired. Not sure there are too many GMs that have experience from that perspective. - adambuffalo
Fair point and as long as he does SOMEtHING he will be better than past GM who did NOtHING. In the few interviews I've heard from Adams, he kinda comes off as an arrogant wiener. Similar to Holmer in Philly. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. Could be good. |

We don't know that he will. But we did know that Botterill either couldn't or wouldn't do it.
It sounds like Botterill's plan was to bring back a lot of the UFAs and RFAs and the Pegulas finally realized he had no goddamn idea what he was doing |

Congrats on not being in NY. My brothers did plays on a travel team from Tampa. I’m sure they’ve been to your rink. Tampa Crunch I believe they're called. |

“This morning, we informed Jason Botterill he will no longer be the General Manager of the Sabres. This decision was made after many candid discussions with Jason during a full review of our hockey operation. We recognized we have philosophical differences regarding how best to put ourselves in a position to compete for a Stanley Cup. So, we decided to make this change.

Like I said, this reminds me of when Russ Brandon took over the Bills' GM duties. The only difference is the owners' mental capacity is in a lot better shape (health wise).

He was probably trying to sell them on Mittelstadt, Slenderman, Cozens, Vesey and all 15 Larrys and they finally realized that's a terrible thing to do for the 3rd year in a row
