Yeah, no more spending so much cap on wingers that are UFA. |

how many good trades has botts made?
http://www.nhltradetracke...by_GM/Jason_Botterill/290
I count 4
montour, skinner, joker and kahun
and I am not sure on montour - homiedclown
If a team offered us a 1st rd pick and one of their best D prospects (which Guhle was at the time) for montour would you jump all over it???
That answers the question if it was a bad trade or not.

Imagine thinking that draft position defines where you must play in the NHL. - TheSabresTaco
This would be a fun exercise... Let's see how many #2 overall picks in the history of the league have changed positions... hmm, I wonder?
I mean, I know Drisitil did it off the bat @ #3 overall but he was moved back to center this year and lead the league in points.... Soooo maybe that's more of an argument to move Sam back to C huh? |

Toffoli would be a great add.
I’m so tired of worrying what someone will do 4,5,6 years into their deals.
What does it matter? We’ve been trash for 9 years.
Go put together a team |

Agreed... Could they really be much worse than they are now? At least try to do something! Give an effort. Do it for the season ticket holders, if not for the city. |

Would that team then play him on his off hand and with a trash partner in Ristolainen?
I refuse to believe his 20 games under Housley where he was great (and his numbers were great) were 100% a fluke |

Because you get stuck with Okposos, Molsons, and Skinners who take up a large majority of your cap relative to their performance. Cap does matter. |

Unknown. Why did Botts hire a coach that did that? Why didn’t Botts stop it?
Bad trade that’s why. |

Well if you got a higher pick then we gave up, then it wasn't a bad trade because you got better value than you gave up. |

lots of centers drafted in the top 10 become nhl wingers
it's just something for the reinhart haters to bring to the table daily
kid is a top 30 winger in the nhl on a really bad franchise

Well can't see it happening, had 2 years to do it and haven't, brought in Mojo and played him at C instead of trying Rhino back at C, tells you something right there. Or Jack has more say then anyone thinks and wants Rhino on his wing. |

Has Guhle made any impact in the NHL yet? this is a serious question. I thought there were many questions about his work ethic and that is why they traded him |

Think it's obvious that Sam has no interest in it. It's not something they even try in preseason.

Not really. At the time though he was still considered a B level prospect with value. |

Yep, I'd reverse that trade if possible.
Montour hasnt shown anything special in my opinion |

True, very true.
That story does change when he inks a $7m+ contract |

IF this is true, couple that with an owner who directs player decisions based on emmotion.
Need a GM with balls and conviction to stand-up and demand autonomy . |

I would not complain again if sam put up 60/65 points not on Jack's line, but including PP time
Or
75-80 points on Jack's line.
Your 90 points over 2 seasons is probably a fair prediction though 😉 |
