Well he was managing director before becoming chairman at southampton. It's hard to say whether either role closely followed what his duties would be as president for the Sabres but its similar in structure.

A fair amount fof sure, but depends on years left, production and age.
If they could secure a ~30 yo vet who puts up 65 poi ts consistently with 2 years left that would be ideal, or go after a you get gun and let Cozens dual him out I. 2 years when he is ready.
Different costs I would imagine.
IMO, Think of a package of a good roster player, a good prospect and a draft pick, be it as these examples only...other poster might have different toughts

I agree with this. We all know Jack and Sam are boys and that the organization is more invested in Eichel than any coach (see Bylsma’s firing).

I’m sure someone over there has asked Jack who he wanted to play with and obviously it would be smart to throw Jack a bone given how bad the team has been.

But while that might be great for Jack’s stats, it might not be what’s best for the team right now. It’s certainly not doing Skinner any favors (having to play with little offensive help), and probably not doing Botril any either (who’s signature moves have been axing Oriley/Kane while giving even more money to Skinner).

On a line with Skinner? I’d say Reinhart gets that done comfortably. The puck is on his stick more and he has a finisher with 30-40g potential.

The bad thing is, if the rumors are true and ownership wanted both ROR and Kane moved, then this is on them just as much as Botts, cause a lot of resources were used to acquire both players, that affected the growth of this franchise. Especially if they didn't want to pay the bonus with ROR. Putting handcuffs on your GM.

So a guy is drafted for position A but ends up going to position B because he's better at it, but it's all the sudden frowned upon simply because where he was drafted. What incredible logic.

Yes, it would be nice if the guy you drafted to play a position played that position. But if they're better somewhere else, it should really not matter anymore.

Risto for Eric Staal would prob be the most inexpensive route. Hell, he even played with Skinner. Then hope Mittlestadt develops in a few years. But Ralf said in his post season presser he sees Risto as a key part to the defense.
