Contract year he has scored over 25g one time in 8 years and has never hit 60 points lol .. let's do another Kyle okposo .. do you guys never learn
- gerbe75pts

he is a second line winger

if short term it's fine, like craig smith

right now other then reinhart, who is your other RW in the top 6?

and if you say move johansson to the rw, toffoli is better

We don't need another boat anchor in 2 years
Let's get a 2nd line center first

my fear is the plan is find someone to replace scandella

trust cozens, tage and casey

bring back as many as they can of simmonds, larsson, girgs and vesey

blame last season on new coach, injuries, hutton "injury" and assume continuity will make the team better

the continuity is the bills approach

I am more concern they had a goalie with bad vision

and kept him on the f@cking roster

IMO this is something you only expect from one of the worst run organizations

- homiedclown

Yeah I really don't get that, horrible, cost us a playoff spot. Did he report that or was he seeing these doctors on his own, it is really unbelievable.

"After receiving advice from the Sabres’ staff, Hutton sought out specialists and started to feel back on track by January."

team knew, and left him on active roster

if nothing else, use an extra roster spot to call up the hambergler or johansson so you have backup with 2 good eyes

I mean you have those two and 6k for rochester, so why hamper your team

Texans' J.J. Watt says taking a knee isn't about the American flag

Finally someone gets it ...

Hope they all take a knee

Well it would have been the thing to do last year, and see if he could have gotten Skinner going.
- Buff36

Exactly. And this, nutshell goes back to why the Sabres are missing the playoffs yet again. Incompetent front office and coaching.

False premise. If he had the ability, he'd play it. He's been subpar at best at every attempt.
- TheSabresTaco

Sam actually looked great at center for the Sabres. Keep pushing the incompetence that has made this organization the laughing stock of the league tho.

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it might just be a duck. Try not over think this stuff, you might hurt yourself.

Yep, been watching the Sabres since 1971, used to have seasons during the 70's. Probably watch 90% of their games on TV, up close.
I'm somewhat familiar with the team, lol!

Well, 3 Coaches and 2 GM's have locked him in at Wing permanently...I'd say that has more credibility than some guy on the internet.
What I will say is that Coaches and GM's are not infallible, hence why I would have liked it revisited over the last 2 years..to have a proper evaluation.

You on the other hand are taking his experience as a Junior player and absolutely projecting him as a defacto NHL center.
I'm not there.
But go on.

I have zero clue how you justify keeping a goalie with vision issues on the active roster and ride Ullmark into the ground.

Is short term IR, to let your goalie get his vision right not an acceptable medical excuse?

Come on botts, this is bush league, amateur hour nonsense.... I’d love to hear his rational for this.

Please, Kim for all our sanity, hire a president and walk away... I don’t care if it’s Ralph, Gillis, Burke... don’t care.... hell I don’t care if you reinstall the Tommy G “just break even” mandate. I will not however accept video scout 3000.

But for the love of all that is hockey. Hire someone at the top that knows hockey to run it all....

Kim, hire a president... tell him to break even and walk away!

Can't remember if you put him up, but do you have numbers on Craig Smith
- Buff36

Craig Smith's projected next contract per Evolving Hockey, in order of probability:

22% - 3 years @ $4.422M per
18% - 5 years @ $5.283M per
16% - 4 years @ $4.828M per

He will be 31 this September, and the shorter term the deal, the better.

3 years is a definite yes for me, 4 years is a probably yes, and 5 years is a no.

Ridiculous, probably cost them atleast 8 to 10pts in the standings. If Botts made this decision he should be fired. Someone needs to be held accountable for stupidity.

Who's ultimately responsible for the decision to play hutton injured?

Botts
Ralph
Medical staff

The Sabres' medical staff has been suspect for a long, long time. The way they handled Tim Connolly was embarrassing. When Peter Schaefer knocked him out in Game 2 of the Ottawa series, it wasn't a concussion. It was an issue with the vertebrae in the neck that caused the same symptoms. It took them well over six months to figure it out. He could have, and should have been back for the Carolina series.

I'm guessing it's a different medical staff 15 years later?
