The only function you really have to put money into. If all this organization did was pay its scouts then you’d have a good team.

COVID-19 screws the Sabres but JB is gone so that is good, so is most of the hockey operations

I hope they keep the Europe/Swedish scout.

If he had ponied up sufficiently for Trochek at the TDL instead of doing his cheapo moves, they probably would have won one more game. Then they'd be in the tournament and he'd have a job. All of this was his doing. He dug his own grave through chronic procrastination combined with baffling panic moves and flat-out unnecessary trades while simultaneously neglecting the 2C position for 2 years.

Ultimately his inability or unwillingness to address a chronic problem cost him his job.

The Sabres are undoubtedly better off now that Botterill is gone. It's a great day to be a Sabres fan.

My wild guess is this is a cost-saving thing - no draft until October, so why keep guys on payroll?
