It truly is sad. Kim and Terry seemed flustered, unprepared and fake in the presser.

This could get real ugly. I worry the team isn't going to make it here long term. A barrier between ownership and the fans has formed, lot of distrust. Winning cures a lot, but it doesn't look like we're going to get saved by that.

I hope Adams is a real life super hero.

I was told yesterday was a very good day for the Sabres.

Firing entire departments and hiring people with no interview process just smells like success to me

That’s the hilarious part of people sticking up for the house cleaning.

The biggest constant that’s been here for the last how many years of poor drafting kept his job.

Numerous years of bad drafting, they clear most of the scouts that have been providing the scouting info for that bad drafting and it's a terrible day. Not to mention there are no players to scout right now and provide that bad scout info at the moment. Those bad scouts and that bad GM that everyone wanted to be fired had their meetings regarding this year's prospects and most likely have their bad draft board set. So, don't you worry, most of the bad scouting for this year has been done.

I would assume so. However nothing is really finalized until after scouting combines and that doesn’t take away from the fact that scouts will pound the table for certain players at certain points of the draft.

Regardless you’re right they might not have the greatest track record to fall back on but really it’s too early to tell how any of Botts’ drafts will play out for at least another year, realistically 2

Feel free to try and justify firing Chris Taylor who by anyone’s standards performed very well at his job, and yet Kevin Devine kept his.

None of it was about performance and it was 100% about future costs, and whether said people will bow down and kiss the Pegula’s ass whenever they’d like.

You should apply

I heard the Sexton interview and he said the meetings they had with their scouts via zoom and all that and you are right it is never final because info comes in and they tweak the board.

Ok, who has Rochester developed? Who besides VO who was a pro when he got to the US and scored 30 goals in Rochester developed for the Sabres? This could go hand in hand with drafting but who??? Also, where have they gone in the playoffs?

Also, they may not even have an AHL next year so if you add that all up and he isn't an AHL HOF coach, hasn't developed players or won with AHL vets, is he worth paying to sit around?

It doesn't look good, but maybe Kevyn has his own plans laid out for the scouting department. Because what has happened doesn't mean this is how it ends up.

So what you’re saying is Rochester didn’t have a great roster yet won a lot of games?

Interesting criticism of Taylor

Samuelsson, Bryson, Laaksonen better play at least 25 minutes a night.

Pekar better get first line minutes and play first unit PK and PP.

That’s all I care about.

He had AHL vets and prospects and could never win in the playoffs and what players did he develop? I think the tearing up for letting him go is a little much when your initial b*tch was about the scouts when you didn't like the drafts they helped provide anyway. That's called moving the goalpost when you are losing the argument.

If they even play, it will definitely hurt if there's no AHL season. Could see a lot of these players go overseas to play.

So he gets no credit for guys who performed well in the AHL, that our NHL team refused to use? Like Pilut, CJ Smith, gets no credit for Olofsson for some weird reason.

Guys like Thompson, Asplund, Ullmark, Bryson have all made great strides in their games over the past year.

Do you think Toronto fans care when the Buffalo Bisons Manager gets fired this much? I can hazard a guess it isn't a blip on most major league teams' fans radar.

The Maples coach is Sheldon Keefe. Who as early as last year was.......their AHL coach.

Lots of people feel Chris Taylor is a future NHL coach.

Your points are so bad it’s not even funny

Taylor was good enough to be on the sabres bench with our current coach

“Chris is an outstanding coach and friend now,” Krueger said in the Buffalo News. “Really filled into a difficult situation here so strongly. Boy, does it ever help us here moving forward to have that connection with Chris now as he’s in Rochester and we’re interacting regularly. I was able to learn from him, having him on my side. I love having coaches there that challenge you, that ask hard questions, that speak the truth, and he does nothing but that. We enjoyed every minute together and we’re connected still in different roles in the organization.”

We are all a little on edge with everything going on. Let's let the week finish, the way it's going there not done yet. Most GM's want to bring in there own people. Let's see what Adams does.

CJ Smith Bryson hasn't made it in the NHL yet, Pilut was a 23 year old Swedish pro who went back and forth between the Sabres and Rochester and you can't say he "developed" in the short time there, that is a reach. Thompson was injured all of last year so I guess the training crew gets points for his development?? Asplund is debatable whether he'll make it in the NHL so we'll see and Ulmark, sure, he gets credit even though goalies work with goalie coaches but so through three years he has Ulmark and a 23 year old Olofsson who had been a pro for 5 years before that. North American players developed a big 0.

Five roster spots, including trading away Reinhart and Risto, which presumably can fill two of them. Find an internal solution for one spot, and then sign two players.

It's really not that hard. Botts was unable to make a deal for a 2C, a top six wing, or any sort of goalie help. Any one of those moves and we are better, two of them and we are good. It's 100% on Botteril, not the cheap Pegulas, who at least spent over the cap.

- matty12345

I get the strategy...been pushing for trading Rhino, Rissto and Montour in packages for months now.

It's the premiss of 5 players not being all that far away from a playoff team, in which 50% qualify normally. But the goal is the SC, so is it 6, 7 8?

In true form, then we have to deal with timing, in which Covid-19's impact on the Cap is still uncertain, but at best is neutral so no growth..maybe a decrease? That serves to limit, to some unknown degree, expensive contracts ... so trading Rhino and Risto or/and Montour will likely become more difficult.

Also, factor in the possibility (5%?, 50%?, 90%?) Of the Sabres implementing an Internal Cap limit less than the NHL ceiling...well let's say that an inexperienced, 1st time GM with very little availability of Hockey Ops guys to help provide input ... boy, that sure sounds like a " it's not hard" job.
