So with the Lottery, if one of the 7 win the top 3 spots, that’s how it stays, as long as a placeholder card isn't picked for the top 3. Then the second drawing is for 4 thru 15 right, did I read that right. |

Taylor has a verbal agreement to an extension. Pegulas said no, then fired him few days later.
They are going to make it very hard for them to hire coaches.
Oh I agree, but obviously they didn't want to pay a salary to someone who might not coach for 16 months.
Also they apparently fired their head of IT by accident and had to rehire him already. - ImThatGuy

How did just “making the playoffs” work for the Habs, Wild, and Flyers the past several years ?
You win the Stanley Cup by having several good players on value contracts.
How many UFA signings have worked out for Buffalo lately ? Guess you missed my post on the last page.
He didn’t sacrifice the next 5-6 years just to be a doormat in the playoffs the last two years.
You go through a rebuild and blow it up to be a cup contender (and eventually win a cup). Not to just play an extra few weeks of hockey every year. - Pegullaville
He couldn't EVEN make the playoffs. You don't go from top 7 pick to the Cup.
The dude was a bozo.
What UFA signings? Johansson? Pouliot? Hutton? Hammond? Really swinging for the fences there. Oh wait, I forgot about God himself Dalton Smith.
Bro, we've been in a rebuild for 8 (frank)ing years, totally blown up for 7, don't give me that bullpoop.
He couldn't see the forest for the trees. Once again, bozo. |

Sure, but I think drafting top 10 gets you closer to winning that cup then making the playoffs and lacking the piece to get you over the top.
Drafting top 10 increases the odds of you getting that said player to get you over the top.
I mean we won’t know for several years what will happen down the line but who is to say that we don’t strike gold with Cozens and whomever we select this year and they prove to be a solid core with Eichel, Dahlin, Reinhart, Skinner.
In my opinion with even how terrible the last few years have been in Buffalo there aren’t more then 8-10 teams I would trade places with in the NHL if we are looking even as far as 2 years down the line.
Now yes, we need to get playoff experience and you won’t go from missing the playoffs to winning a cup but I want to have a core to be confident in and not just spend 9 years building a team that breaks our hearts time after time in the playoffs. |

its tough because say in the division right now Boston declines as Marchand and Co Age. Then you have DET and OTT stocking up and prospects now. tough to tell where those two will be a couple years. I think the point is buffalo should be way beyond tanking/hoping for the lottery after 9 years.. |

I don't really think we started are rebuild until maybe going on 4yrs. Murray really never tried to rebuild, tried to retool on the fly and are prospect pool suffered greatly with all the trades and bad drafting. Botts really is the one who started rebuilding are prospect pool and some of those FA wouldn't even be here if we any kind of prospects to fill spots like they should have. Botts messed up things and he needed to go, but this is just not all on him, and the Pegulas need to get there hands out of the cookie jar, because they caused a lot of this. |

Rest of the league will be going to minimum staffing for AHL and Jr services shortly, no reason to employ a full complement when those two leagues may not be playing for two years. It sucks but that's the world we live in.

I am taking it as say Detroit wins the first Draw, Sabres win the 2nd and Ottawa wins the 3rd, that how the picks stay
Detroit-1st pick
Sabres-2nd
Ottawa-3rd
The only way that would change is if one of the placeholder cards wins one of those rounds and then that drawing would be done after the play in rnd. If a place holder card doesn't win in those first 3 draws, then that phase 2 drawing after the play in rnd is just to determine 4 thru 15 |

What? He's the one who tore it down. The second Ryan Miller was traded was when the teardown started. You could even make an argument that as soon as Vanek was traded it did.
Sorry, it was 13-14, not 12-13, I thought Miller was traded in 12-13 for some reason. Either way, 7 years, 8 years, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference. |

the wings need a C (byfield). but they should take Alexis if they get the #1. teams hang on to #1Cs thats why I wish Alexis was a Center. make him that much more valuable..
If buffalo got #2. Eichel and Byfield as 1/2 would be amazing. |

Would u trade #1 to Ottawa for #3 and whatever later 1st pick they have? Draft pick value charts suggest advantage Detroit. 2 & 3 would be no brainer. |

You draft Alexis no matter what.
Whats scary is Ottawa can draft 1,2 and it changes the dynamic for them. |

It really does, they both did there damage, and Darcy started the tear down. Murray should have kept it going, you should go and read up on Murray and some of the stuff he did. Really destroyed are pipeline of prospects and a lot of picks. But Botts did his damage to, like I said failure of 2 GM'S in a row. |

could be worse too.look at SJs roster. 3 defensemen on the wrong side of 30 with a collective cap hit of 27 mill (Vlasic,Karlsson,Burns). :O. |
