get your season tickets now - homiedclown
To get your season tickets you'll have to sign an agreement to blindly follo--- *ahem*....I mean "communicate effectively" with Kim.
Failure to do so will result in charges of sexism and disloyalty and the Sabres picking up their team and moving to Florida. |

Cause they groomed him for this. It sucks with what’s going on, but time to move on and hope for the best. - Buff36
36, how can you say that?
His only experience in hockey Ops was 9 years ago as an Associate Coach for the Sabres...which lasted less than 2 years. Before that he was an Agent for 2 years...doesn't sound like it was too successful either, but I could be wrong.
His grooming with the Sabres has been on the Business side, which started last year at the time...Ticketing, Marketing, etc.
If the Pegula's are pushing that narrative, it is a complete fabrication. They liked what he did running the Academy of Hockey...which is hockey, but no where near the NHL.
This is like the the guy who painted parking lines at the local McDonald's parking lot being promoted to to Region Sr VP at Walgreens.
I wish him the best. His best asset might just be his Contact List in his Cell Phone. |

So with the Lottery, if one of the 7 win the top 3 spots, that’s how it stays, as long as a placeholder card isn't picked for the top 3. Then the second drawing is for 4 thru 15 right, did I read that right. - Buff36
No, I don't thing so.
I understand it to be
The 7 non playoff teams plus the 8 placeholder spots are in the 1st Lottery ...placeholders given the designation of Team A through Team H.
If Teams A through H win the top 3, then a 2nd Lottery is held to see who those real Teams are.
I believe that to be right, but It has been awhile. |

Theoretical comparison:
Ralph managed a soccer team and improved it, despite zero actual soccer management experience.
Kevyn Adams will manage a hockey team, despite zero actual hockey management experience.
Both men are clearly very smart and business savvy. You can debate who might be better than the other, but things like this have been done before. Tim Murray had a ton of hockey smarts and wiped. So did Jason. A different approach can work. |

I am taking it as say Detroit wins the first Draw, Sabres win the 2nd and Ottawa wins the 3rd, that how the picks stay
Detroit-1st pick
Sabres-2nd
Ottawa-3rd
The only way that would change is if one of the placeholder cards wins one of those rounds and then that drawing would be done after the play in rnd. If a place holder card doesn't win in those first 3 draws, then that phase 2 drawing after the play in rnd is just to determine 4 thru 15 - Buff36
I don't believe the 2nd lottery, if needed sets the order for 4-15.
If no Placeholder team wins 1-3, then no 2nd lottery draw is needed.
They sequence the draft order based on points percentage.
The 2nd lottery is if Teams A - H win the top 3 only. |

Im sure Im changing the subject here because Im not in the mood to read what people are talking about...but here is a pet peeve of mine.
People that criticize scouts and GMs for "not hitting on late round picks". Sure you can criticize for the Nylanders, Mitts (maybe), David Cooper and Kryukov. But some people talk like every year 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounders should make the team, every year. Its not football with 50 players on the team. Its like the NBA draft being 5 rounds and people complaining they haven't hit on a 5th rounder.
ehhh…..just leaking oil this morning I guess.. |

Ideally you’re looking for 2-3 guys a year to make an impact on the big club at some point in the future.
You should ideally hit on the first rounder then one guy in the mid rounds, maybe some years you’ll hit on two in rounds 2-7. |

Can it work? Yes, absolutely.
Is the probability the same? Unclear, it depends on the person and the support staff given to help the inexperienced increase the odds as well as speed the learning cycle along.
So it is not a question of "can", rather "will".
I think this is a situation where the risk of failure has been increased with little experience on-board to speed up the learning cycle. To mitigate that, t's a scenario now where Adam's now needs to hire people who have at least some good experience to help give good input.
Else it is the blind leading the blind, no matter how "smart". |

Ya know, I don't see this argument often.. rarely I suppose. This team specifically, if you don't count Olofsson, when was the last team a skater beyond the second round impacted this team? There's no Brayden Points, Kris Letangs, Jamie Benns, Anders Lees, Mark Stones, Mike Hoffmans...
I personally would never expect to always hit those. But we haven't hit on one since, (frank), Soupy? It's a joke. Finding one guy a year beyond the 2nd round is what I would consider a success. A great success, finding an impact guy maybe once every 5 years. But for (frank) sakes, have precisely zero home grown talent on the roster beyond round 2 (not goalies). I think that could change soon with Bryson and Borgen, and eventually with Laaksonen and Pekar, which is a testament to the 2017 draft, but the drafts before it.. beyond the 1st and sometimes 2nd round. Is literally, and I mean literally, non existent, spare for what.. Borgen and Olofsson? |

Well, I haven't heard the criticism expressed the way you put it.
Missing on guys like Grigerenko, Nylander and possibly Mitts who were drafted in the 1st round, while also having very few picks in rounds 2 - 4 hit is the crux of the criticism. The rounds after that are found money if any hit.
The GM also takes a hit for moving alot of picks and prospects who have hit...i.e. Zadorov, Lemieux, Compher.
Gotta do better than that...especially where they have drafted the last 6 years or so. |

First of all, fixed.
Second, I think this plays into him being highly intelligent. Not only does he know he doesn't have all the answers, he heavily implied he would be hiring staff around him. If he doesn't, then I will one hundred percent board the Pessimism Express. |

It's not that simple, but you can't ever be good if you can't draft. And that's a fact. |
