No, they lucked out in finding McDermott, and then Beane, who had a relationship with him. They have the personality and the ability to compel them to stay out of the way. The question is "how long will it last?" There are already rumblings that McDermott can't maintain the culture he is building under this ownership. I don't have much confidence.
