Accidentally flagged you.
Anyhow, it's possible. Then again for the upcoming season, we're not sure where the cap will end up so any internal cap on the roster, which isn't a given yet, might get lost in a reduced cap ceiling - Michael Pachla
just let a guy with less then 2 seasons coaching in the nhl, put a 40 goal scorer on the third line and remove him from pp
and have a 1 eye goalie in net run the show with someone who has never even been an assistant GM "run the show" without interviewing anyone
sounds like a perfect game plan |

Or maybe Botts just sucked? Nah, can't be. - Wetbandit1
He did suck.
He received a vote of confidence 3 weeks before from a condescending owner who knows more than everyone.
Amazing how much he sucked in those final 3 weeks, lol. |

He's doing something new ..
Let's all see wait happens - gerbe75pts
Difficult to have patients on their 3rd go around.
But, we will have to wait and see, no other choice.
I may be wrong, I don't believe people are female doginv about Botts being fired, nor even the bloodletting in the Scouting Dept.
Rather, for me anyway, it is hiring a GM with absolutely zero experience in Hockey Operations coupled with no supporting staff for him to rely on, save 6 or 7 scouts and a head coach with 1-1/2 seasons of NHL coaching experience over the last 5 years.
There is a very significant rebuild necessary in the Hockey Ops Dept, a very significant offseason to rebuild the roster with many gaping holes in a now severely tarnished organization, and a Draft that the team needs to hit on.
Seattle has it easier and they have been planning for a year already and have another year to go...Adam's has about 3-1/2 months.

I don't know who any of these guys were save for a couple anyway, doubt I know of any of the replacements.
I'm curious if the bulk up the Analytics staff by a couple, and who the AGM will be...if any. |

perhaps i should have said who his first "big hire" (e.g. AGM, director of scouting)...point being, what are his credentials, how much of an analytics fan is he, how good is he at building a team to work under him, etc |

their lineup was jack left half-wall, olofsson right, sam in front of and around the net, dahlin at one point...can't see skinner at the point on the powerplay...and besides, he's known more for his 5v5 scoring than pp scoring
edit: that said, i get your point |

Honestly didn’t mind the Risto in front of the net. He may not be a lot of things, but a big guy is one of them. Hard to move, and pretty tough. Not Gerbe tough, but you get my point |

The starting PP wings were VO and Sam with Jack as the center. When VO was injured they put Johansson because he handled the puck and passed it better. The PP was not a problem.
With Skinner I had the benefit of actually wanting him to succeed but he had a terrible year. Have you ever read books/articles people believe what they want to believe? I was in his camp when they signed him so I didn't have the belief that he should fail so he did, he just did this year. Many here believe what they want to believe you included.

Eichel took the draw, he didnt play center on the PP. |

You mean, back when the Sabres made the playoffs because they didn’t overpay for mediocre talent 😉 - SDSabre

been looking for a comparable for eichel and his wish to be traded from a bad team... when it comes to a superstar supposedly wanting out of a bad situation in the midst of a lucrative, long-term deal, john tavares is a close comparable
--in his first six seasons (2009-2015) the islanders had a .509 points-percentage good for 24th in the league
--the isles made the playoffs once in those seasons--during the lockout year of 2013 (his 5th season) when they went 27-17-7, finishing third in the old atlantic division but whose 55 points ranked them eighth in the eastern conference
--he ranked eighth in the league in goals during that span (174) and was 14th in scoring with 401 points
as far as i can recall, he never asked for a trade, or at least it was never reported that he asked for one |

Eichel is not going to be traded as you wisely say. Sam on the other hand, not so sure but with the cap remaining stagnant or going down might be hard with what he wants to be paid.

I need you to do us all a favor and separate these two facts:
1. People wanted Jason Botterill fired.
2. People wanted Kerry and Tim to perform a GM search. |
