A lot of amateur leagues are in danger. No fans , no season.

People saying shut it down and start a new season in the fall need to give their head a shake. Nothing is going to change in three months , in fact the first reports about the virus said it slows down in the heat , so when fall and winter come back do we expect it to spread more rapidly?

- VANTEL

Although the 1st report's out, were that heat may slow the virus, that was quickly dispelled by health professionals, as they weren't really sure what this virus is capable of.
I don't believe it is just amateur sports that will be in trouble, nhl, soccer/football are going to have a tough time as well.
If I am an owner of a nhl team that is viable, I would be concerned about constantly propping up teams like Coyotes, Florida, Carolina, Islanders, etc.
I expect to see the league have at least 6 teams in bankruptcy, on the other side of Covid.

I agree all leagues are in trouble.

The heat thing we will find out about in the fall but regardless it does not take away from the problem . I was just trying to point out it has the potential to get worse but if it remains the same it is still an issue.

I think I looked at the numbers a few weeks back and I estimate that all NHL teams make about 50 mil from TV revenues. Basically you start the year 30 mil in the hole.

Why would you open your doors knowing that? This is where players half to decide will I give up half their money or make no money?

No there isn’t

Even though it’s been widely reported that this might be a likely option, including if I remember correctly, by Carol? I think your cap and buyout knowledge has already been shown to be suspect at best. Maybe stick to your opinion, seems to be your max.

I don't mean to offend you so don't take it the wrong way but you are a miserable little pucker hole , that hates everything and does heavy drugs . So if it is all the same to you I will leave the cap to the people that actually have a clue.
- VANTEL

Cannabis is not a"heavy drug" and I use to help ease chronic pain. Do some research.

Saying they'll be complacent at the start of the season is not an example of understanding the cap. Good luck understanding the high dollar contracts for relatively limited role players is not using your cap effectively. I understand it is beyond grade 3 math of addition and subtraction but maybe your buddy from Red Deer can help you, he might even use cartoons.

Nobody is talking about the AHL next year.

They can't survive without ticket revenues - there's no point in having a season.

Maybe the Pegulas were on to something by firing their entire AHL staff - no point in keeping them on the payroll to sit around and talk about nothing.

Jersey Devils also . Go take a look at their management group

Canucks let go two of their top AHL players yesterday sign KHL contracts while still under NHL contracts.

I agree I think NJD and Buffalo are ahead of the curve.

It would be funny if Benning was ahead of the curve letting Brackett go with no amateur hockey next year.

Is that like when people who still wears clothes from the 80s are in fashion because it's looped back around on them? Benning's so far behind the curve he's somehow in front of it again.

How many times in the history of the NHL have a player and a team agreed to terminate an existing contract? Tell you what, if either contract is terminated mutually this off season, I’ll walk away. If not, you never post here again?

So once?

I can think of three off the top of my head. How many player contracts have there been in the modern era? What percentage of SPC’s have been terminated mutually? You truly believe that in this time of the greatest uncertainty in the history of the sport that a player slated to earn $2.4m (adjusted) would walk away from that for the potential to earn significantly less for his pride?

Once

Kovilchuck

How about on Canucks alone

Rodin
Burmistrov
Goldobin (2 weeks early)
Boucher (2 weeks early)

Shirokov and Tryamkin both walked away from NHL contracts for more playing time but were currently not under contract.

Lets see if Palmu reports this year .

You’re really reaching now, and didn’t answer the question. You’d make an excellent politician.
