Once

Kovilchuck

How about on Canucks alone

Rodin
Burmistrov
Goldobin (2 weeks early)
Boucher (2 weeks early)

Shirokov and Tryamkin both walked away from NHL contracts for more playing time but were currently not under contract.

Lets see if Palmu reports this year .

I tried to have this conversation with him a few back months back - even after giving him multiple examples he was too dumb and proud to admit he was wrong. You're wasting your time.

You’re really reaching now, and didn’t answer the question. You’d make an excellent politician.

It never happens because he says it never happens, so it will never happen! Just because you cam think of a bunch of examples, doesn’t change anything.

The only scenario where I could see Sven agreeing to terminate his contract would be if he and his family were going to move back to Switzerland. But he has stated over and over that he believes he is an NHL player, so where is the benefit. Even in this scenario, he could not terminate but seek a loan to the Swiss league rather than playing in the AHL. I believe the Canucks would still be on the hook for a portion of his cap hit.

For “mutual” termination the player must foresee some benefit. Where is the benefit from foregoing a significant portion of your income?

What do Berglund and Buff have in common?

I’m serious, I’ll walk away and you’ll never have to read my garbage again. How serious are you about your beliefs that Bear will walk away?

Right there? If his agent has been allowed to talk to other teams to work out a one year contract to play in the NHL, maybe he cares more about his career and belief than more money?

i don't want to get into the middle of the whole sven issue but an interesting wrinkle in what's going on will be played out with sven like contracts.

escrow only involves the nhl cap i.e. players playing in the nhl. it does not encompass players/contracts at the ahl level.

a player in the ahl on a one way contract gets paid his full salary. this means that players on one way deals playing in the ahl actually make more there than they would in the nhl.

just an interesting wrinkle to this whole debacle of a timeline.

Two teams now (today ) closed facilities because of Covid. If it keeps up we Marwood won't need to whine about the cap daily if there is no season

But he could do that in one more year. If there even is a year. Could all be moot, maybe there is no hockey to play...

Oh yeah, there’s no way he does if there’s no season. But then there’s no ufas signed, and no cap... so ya that doesn’t really matter. But if there is a season, he thinks he wants to play in the show... kinda makes sense he asks for a fresh start. With his payout and new contract, he’s not far off what he would have made and he plays in nhl which he’s made very clear he wants.

sven is on a one way deal but is playing in the ahl. what happens if there is no ahl next season?

would the nhl have to bankroll the ahl to allow for non-attendance games?

so many issues that haven't even been thought about yet.

I keep going back to what Renauld Lavoie said a month ago. He is a very respected reporter and he said there will be no NHL season next year without fans.

Today facilities are closing down for major sports including a few minutes ago the Blue Jays.

Today is not a good day for sporting news. That is the third facility saying today . Sorry we are closed.

If he agrees to terminate his contract there is no payout, he simply walks away. That’s a significant drop in salary (likely). I think Benning can still trade him if the Canucks offer up a draft pick.

I think it's more likely that the season doesn't resume than does. I used to feel the opposite.

Have read this morning so far a PGA player tested positive, an NFL 49ers player in Nashville (currently) positive and the other players he was working out with are awaiting test results, MLB Phillies players I think was mentioned in the audio of JP Barry that Vantel posted, NHL players in Phoenix reported yesterday.
