The States seem to have a good handle on the Covid stuff.

The obvious answer is stop testing. No more new cases!

Edmonton should get serious consideration for it's Ice quality alone , imagine how good it would be with an empty arena
- onesmallleap

Downside is any player cooped up there for any length of time will decide he won’t want to sign there as a UFA.

On the other hand if the Hub is in Vancouver it would promote us for quality of living imo

All the bids to be a hub seem to include some form of golf as an entertainment but I wonder if players would actually go. Hockey players are a superstitious bunch.

Can you see players thinking that picking up a golf club signals the end of their season? They might believe that if they golf their team will lose. Like touching the conference final trophy...

Do you know any pro hockey players that play golf during the playoffs?

Maybe they do, I don’t know. I do know they do all kinds of superstitious poop.

Plus what the hell else would you like to talk about?

Not much new in here I see, same old same old...there's nothing really new to discuss, in fairness. And yes of course guys who can play golf during the season or the playoffs do, if it's something they like to do, why not?

During "the last dance" Michael Jordan played a round of golf with a few guys from the opposing team during the playoffs.

Just reading my VIHA email this morning on behalf of Kathy MacNeil President & CEO, and Dr. Richard Stanwick Chief Medical Health Officer.

In part....we're safe as it was caught early, just so you know.

"JUNE 22, 2020

This afternoon, Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that among the 32 new people diagnosed with COVID-19 province-wide over the past three days, one of them is within Island Health. This new case is the first in Island Health since May 6, and brings our total test-positive cases to 131 since the pandemic began.

With approximately 25,000 staff and medical staff in a health authority population of 800,000 people, it isn’t unexpected on occasion a member of the Island Health family may contract COVID-19. The new case confirmed today – the 131st case – is a staff person with Island Health.

We want to thank this individual for quickly recognizing that they were experiencing symptoms and for taking the recommended next steps. We are very grateful they observed appropriate practices to limit the risks of transmission at work and in the community, and wish them well in their recovery. Once confirmed, our public health team immediately connected with this person, and as of today, we can state contact tracing is complete. Anyone who may have come into close contact with this individual has been contacted and provided guidance.

As Dr. Henry noted in her update today, she was not surprised to see a new case in Island Health. This is an important reminder that in our community – and communities across the province – the virus is still circulating, if only at a low level because of the public health precautions we continue to undertake."

Thanks for passing that along. Good news for the island and it demonstrates the risks our health care workers face.

Read a good article on Forbs this morning about successful reopening. Cites New Zealand and China as examples of what people might not consider successful because they had new outbreaks after prolonged minimal cases, but the success lies in the practices and procedures in identifying and tracing new cases to halt community spread.

Not arguing, asking a question about how deep a hockey players superstition goes. You’re the one arguing about it

Absolutely the success lies in continuing to practise what the experts are telling us, however, people become complacent and reoccurrences are bound to happen. In short, people are dumb...there's just no getting around that. It's a wonder we are the top of the food chain on this planet
