They had a solid 2015-16 and looked like they were on the upswing. 2016-17 was marred by a poor start due to injuries to Jack and Kane with a collapse of the locker room and a tuning out of Bylsma later that season - Michael Pachla
Kane was going to be an UFA and from what I remember he had no intention of resigning here so they had to trade him. Whether the time of the trade or return is debatable not whether they could have kept him so the comment about how that turned out is mute unless it was meant to mean they should have got more. |

How are point totals arbitrary when we drastically need more scoring?
Points literally equal scoring
I’m not saying he’s sh!tty
Just that we need a better 2C than him
This is where u need to realize that the analytics are incomplete, and use common sense
Toronto is loaded at forward with scorers,
and he struggled to score there
And they didn’t even like him at 3C,
so we shouldn’t entertain putting him at 2C here
The only way u can justify that is if u really think he’s a 60point player who was just stuck behind Tavares & Matthews
I just don’t see that outta him
He could be a good 3C
But at 2C, i think we’re just asking for more disappointment - jdfitz77
but your the guy saying they aren't available.
how do you propose to secure one?

some good players there...
i'm good with trading 8 or lower dependent upon what happens 1-7 and what's coming back...7 still might be a real good player this year |

so you are a tampy fan now? or cheer for both - wingz4life
Cheer for both....TBL has some sense of how to run an organization. Been an Amerks fan since we moved to Rochester in 69. Went to many Amerks games in the 70's and 80's compliments of Fred Costello... family friend. Glad to get out of the state though. |

I suppose the hope would be that the flat Cap forces a team into a bad decision
But if the best we can do is getting a 3C quality player, then we should be trading something more like Tage or Asplund & a pick
Then use Risto or Montour to help get a RW2

Welcome!
I'm in Sarasota, about 45 minutes south of you.
Bolts are incredible to watch at the arena, go if you can get a ticket, you'll love it.
such a difference from Buffalo's KBC, unfortunately...top notch arena, team plays exciting style,
Hopefully, they aren't on the downslide at the end of their window.

I hear and read this a lot.
assuming those teams would need Picks and/or ELC Players, what assets does Buffalo have to obtain a 70 point 2C?
2020-1st...NOPE, that is what teams hope their Top 5 pick becomes.
also, you have been beating the drum for Bonino as a stop gap 2C.
At 32; 1 Year at $4.1M and career 0.45 PPG … 35 Pt player
yet
Kerfott is
25, 3 @ $3.5m and career 0.50 PPG … 41 pt player
must be missing something.
The deal is not Risto for Kerfott, It is For Kerfoot and Johnsson |

Where are you getting the above from?
Lundell has been playing in a top men's league and has a strong enough overall game that he could make the Sabres as soon as next season, let along needing 3 years. - kingcong39
So did Joel Armia and Jesse Puljujarvi. |

True but that is where good management comes in to play. Be interesting to see how they handle it. Some teams are able to do what the sabres can't and that is draft well and trade well.
Maybe the new Sabres GM can play off of TB's misfortunes.

Cal Foote is ready for the NHL
they already signed Semykin and I heard they really like Alex Green
saves the bolts about 8-10 mil on their cap and gives them a top 7 pick
they are going to have to make a trade like that IMO |

My beating the drum for Bonino is taken out of context
The entire reason for that was the awful idea that we should trade for Ryan Johansen by some here
Bonino is better than him at half the salary
If u wanna compare him & Kerfoot,
here it is:
Kerfoot failed at 3C for the Leafs with tons of offensive talent around him
So much so, that many Leafs fans now think he should play the wing
Bonino is a GREAT 2way player and one of the best 3C in the entire league
So yeah...
IF we can’t get a legit 2C
Then please give me a guy like Bonino all day over Kerfoot
And don’t overpay for him either |

VKG will need to make a deal as well.
Would love go get Tuch out of there. Throw them Tage in a package, maybe they buy into the big T (even though he plays like a kitten)
IMO, that frees up trading Rhino and not getting roped into a long term deal at $7+.
Although, he seems like a brown nose...probably calls Kerry and Tim as Mr and Mrs Pegula so Tim doesn't trade him. |
