Once tomorrow night is done, seems like it could be 4 months of relative silence for the Sabres.
Probably a good thing. - IonSabres
Probably a good thing, I hear Kim has to finish her certification and licensing so she can be the captain of the yacht. |

I was told overpaying in term and AAV in order to attract players to Buffalo would be a good idea. |

The nhl has let us have our lotto fun. Kim’s done jack squat with it. Don’t expect any more “luck”. Sabres pick 9th... - Gr8daygo
Our most likely scenario is 8th. That’s what I expect.
Thinking of Lafreniere with Eichel or a Eichel-Byfield-Cozens trio down the middle will make for peaceful dreams for me tonight though before reality hits tomorrow. |

Quiet until after the playoffs. Like that Spector piece noted, Sabres are in good shape cap-wise and could land a significant player from a cap-strapped team. Of which there could be more than a few. |

“Long term” in Pegula language... 1 season (2020/2021)... extension in 2021 (3 year). Fired by December 2021. Might make it to off season 2022.... - Gr8daygo

Maybe so. Hope so.
Would need to involve futures / ELC players I would think.
IMO, unless the 2020 pick falls to 10th, I would not trade it unless they were to get a Cirelli type back. (doubtful).
Do they have enough of those desirable assets? Depends on what/who that player is I suppose. |

Nice piece from TBN's Lysowski on Dudley's hybrid scouting approach:
https://buffalonews.com/2...evyn-adams-nhl-news-2020/
video, eye-test and analytics all used in conjunction with each other...here's how it ended:
Hockey operations departments have started to place a greater emphasis on analytics over the past decade. The Sabres are one of six teams in the NHL with only one analytics employee listed on their respective staff directories.
Without commenting on other organizations' strategies, Dudley explained that analytics can confirm an evaluation of a player or raise questions about a potential acquisition. Although data can measure a player's impact with and without the puck in various situations, it does not account for how a player fits within a team's system or whether the player has a specific skill set a team is missing. It also doesn't reflect effort or something as subtle as body language.
However, a blend of video and in-person scouting can confirm whether a player with strong analytics would fit with a team.
"The general manager’s job and every other job in organization has changed with technology," Dudley said. "If you don’t recognize that then you’re going to fall behind. ... Analytics add to the overall picture you’re trying to create and you look at many of the players that we’ve acquired in Carolina. They’ve been pretty good acquisitions. I think part of it is we have such a complete picture." |

good take...imo, any 2020 pick below No. 8, barring anything weird happening with teams in front of them, should be strongly considered as a trade chip |

Botterill obviously did not want to trade Risto, not sure having him gone and replaced by Adam's should form the basis that he is now "safe"....maybe more like "damned".
Trading 2 of Miller, Montour, Risto should be on Adam's list however. - IonSabres
If he likes analytics as much as he says he does, Risto won't be here much longer. |

Eichel is not getting any younger.
If we pick 7-8-9 I would gladly trade that pick for someone like Strome but they would have to add a pretty good prospect to sweeten it.
This team makes the playoffs with Strome as our second line center. |

I've agreed with this stance for a long time. Analytics should never be the be-all end-all. I think it's your foundation. But a foundation aint no house, and that's where the other attributes come in.

It does if it is Lafreniere. He SHOULD get 60-80 points as a rookie. He is the real deal. He crushed it in the World Jrs and he was 17. |
