Marner's cap hit being high might make it hard to trade him. - PatC80

This isn't true. Given the enormous difference in cap hit and their respective performances this season you can make the case that Nylander provides more value - PlatosRepucklic
31 goals with a cap hit of 6.9 is a really good deal.. Nylander is just getting into his prime |

This is a kid that won MVP of the World Championships as a 21 year old playing with and against the best players in the world. He's an excellent player on a good deal. That dry spell after he signed the contract has really tainted his reputation (unfairly imo) |

Lafrenniere is making his list right now of teams he wants to lose the round robin games (in bold):
#5 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #12 Montreal Canadiens
#6 Carolina Hurricanes vs. #11 New York Rangers
#7 New York Islanders vs. #10 Florida Panthers
#8 Toronto Maple Leafs vs. #9 Columbus Blue Jackets
#5 Edmonton Oilers vs. #12 Chicago Blackhawks
#6 Nashville Predators vs. #11 Arizona Coyotes
#7 Vancouver Canucks vs. #10 Minnesota Wild
#8 Calgary Flames vs. #9 Winnipeg Jets |

we didn't like him that much before that either.

I think he struggled a lot under Babcock, he had him on a short leash. Completely different game under Keefe.. |

Nope trade Kerfoot and Johnsson to buffalo for Ristolainen. Roll with Matthews, Tavares and Lafreniere. - PatC80
Please no. Ristolainen is big. He is RHD. Two good attributes. Problem is he just isn’t a good hockey player. I’ve watched a lot of sabres games. He just isn’t very good. |

He had a goal and an assist in his first game last playoff. Then kadri got suspended he had take over as 3C and try and contribute with some brown and marleau.
You can’t really blame him. He has looked great playing his natural wing with Tavares and Matthews this year. |

Mackinnon, Kucherov, Panarin among others, not pushovers. Marner was also in that tourney btw. |

That was frustrating, Kadri killed the playoff run. Johnsson had to move up to the 1st line, Nylander had to play a checking 3rd line role. Marleau didn't want to play C. |

Yup and kapanen went cold.
Matthews and marner (first 3/4 games) held the team in it. |

Matthews held them in the whole series. Marner's play dropped off toward the end of the series. To be fair, one-third of the Marner line was playing on one leg |

That was a weird series for Marner. First 2 or 3 games he was their best player. Rest of the series he was one of the worst. I remember thinking he must have been injured but they never reported anything. |
