Nylander has had the benefit of playing with Matthews 80% of his career. When he doesn’t have a superstar C, he doesn’t look nearly as good. Also, he’s terrible defensivly. Like, fücking brutal.

His game is grossly incomplete.

- Arctic_AARDVARK

That’s bs about benefiting from matthews. We’ve seen tons of average player play with elite players and look mediocre still. Matthews benefits from nylander just as much.

I don’t think 80% is accurate

What are your thoughts on marner and hyman defense? Those guys get lots of love but I don’t think they’re all that good. I don’t think they’re that much if at all better than nylander defensively but they get tons of love and nylander gets poop on.

Both can play the PK. Mitch will block shots, and always puts his head down and backchecks hard. Hyman is Hyman, no explanation needed.

Willy wanders.. and he floats.. and makes tons of boneheaded plays. When Mitch gets the puck in the o-zone, 95% of the time there’s a scoring chance. Willy gets the puck in the o-zone and usually makes a bad pass, or takes a low% shot resulting in a rush back the other way, upon which he doesn’t try hard to get back into the play, or he’ll skate to the bench.

Doesn’t mean jack. How’s the pk been?

They miss their checks regularly 5on5. Routinely fail to get the puck out of their own zone but no one mentions that

Bs on the whole takes low % shots

The whole nonsense of doesn’t backcheck is fallacy. Just made up bs to fit a narrative.

Kerfoot and Dermott

Jenner

Man, Boone isn't worth either of them, never mind both.

I obviously like the first one but Carolina wouldn't do it, even though Nylander is fantastic and they'd love to have him.

Any team would be crazy not to want a guy like Ellis. Nashville just has something in the water when it comes to drafting defensemen.

If Nashville is ever stupid enough to trade him, I hope the Leafs are first in line.

Imagine how good they could still be on D if they kept Weber and Jones.

If he was what he was 5 years ago, I'd love him on the Leafs. But he's not. He's wearing down and getting worse.
