Seriously? Nice! I’d rather have some fried chicken and potatoes. End up in a happy food coma.
When I was a kid we went to the Luxor in Vegas. The buffet had my favorites (fried chicken) but also had stuffed crap and steak. It was amazing |

Too early to order a Lafreniere Penguins jersey? You guys got robbed. |

Don't worry... we will tank to make sure we lose and get the #1 overall pick so Montreal cannot get the pick. problem solved. |

When they brought in this format I’m 2016 I didn’t think it would go over well and and 4 years later that belief has been instilled.
I get the league wanting to prevent another oilers saga but when good teams are given handouts it becomes harder for bad teams to get good again which hurts the league’s parity which is one of its greatest strengths.
Realistically the draft lottery always should’ve been exclusive to the bottom 9 (bottom 10 after expansion) teams with only the top 2 picks up for grabs. That way the worst team doesn’t fall out of the top 3, bubble teams have zero chance and due to covid the league could have done a 22 team playoff and not change a thing |

I'm bummed it happened this way. A number of teams will completely tank the qualifying round now and it will be a joke.
Plus, I remember when our franchise was struggling, we were able to get great picks and turn it around. The idea of a #1 pick going to a start studded team like Pittsburgh, Montreal, Edmonton, or Chicago... isnt right, especially when so many other teams need that pick more.
Not sure if the league got exactly what they wanted or if this was a disaster in their eyes. Could see it either way. |

Believe me as a flames fan I’m definitely rooting for the jets in this play in round as I don’t believe my team is good enough to win a cup anyway. Even if we lose the lottery a top 15 pick in this draft is as good as a top 10 in most.
This is also probably exactly what the league wanted. More people tuning in with more on the line in the play in round |

I dont blame the last couple of teams in the play-in round if they completely milk it. We play Montreal and there is no way they take this series seriously, they know they could draft a star from their own backyard. The Penguins will likely be healthy so I cant see them tanking for a 12.5% chance. If guys like Jake, Murray, Letang, Crosby, etc. were still injured, it'd be a different story.
You're going to drag all of these bottom teams to a hub city to try to play a series when they know they likely have no shot of winning the Cup plus they have a 12.5% chance of winning the #1 overall pick? Hell, if youre Montreal, Florida, Islanders, Rangers, Chiago, and Minnesota...why on Earth should you play hard in this series instead of just blowing it and taking your chances?
NHL really messed this up. The draft isnt happening tomorrow. There was no reason to have the lottery tonight. Wait until after the qualifying round and then do it. This was a complete joke.

I don’t see the pens tanking either. The teams that are cup contenders will go for it but fans of teams like Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver or Columbus may think twice.
I honestly won’t have any issue if one of Montreal, Chicago, Arizona or Minnesota get it just cause they were all but guaranteed to miss anyways and have a legit shot at Lafrenière. I’ll be pissed though if playoff locks like the pens, oilers or leafs get upset and win it which isn’t unlikely since all losing teams have the same odds.
Given the time off the potential flukey-ness of this “playoff” worries me |

Too bad about Lafrenierre, but according to Eklund, he'll look great in LA. Can't wait to see the mystery team who pick at #2. |

Also we can’t ignore that I believe it was the odds that would have belonged to the jets that won it. There is no reason that team should be allowed to be in the draft lottery had things played out like normal. No different than the canes moving up to svechnikov or philly moving up for Nolan Patrick |

Yes, if there is one team that has been screwed the league over and over again in its history... it is... * checks notes *... the Detroit Red Wings...?

I'm not sold at all on Drysdale but I've been very wrong about prospects before.
Hoping for Rossi with the No. 4. |

Lafreniere is the wing version of Tavares. |

My condolences to you Detroit fans. What a freaking joke. Year after year you fall in the draft because of the lottery. And this year it really hurts falling to fourth. It’s complete BS.
Take solace in the fact that you have an excellent GM who is proven and capable of turning this around.
It could be worse, you could be a Buffalo fan. With our dippoop owners you will surely be a contender before us. |

So what do you guys think the odds are that the loser of the Edmonton - Chicago play-in gets first overall?
One hundred percent? |

listen. yzerman pointed out. the bottom 8 teams have a 24.5 percent chance of picking number#1 . DET had a 18.5 chance. if we get someone like Drysdale and he becomes the anchor with Seider back there? is anyone going to complain? no! |
