It's the possibilty that a team sitting 7th overall in the league in points could be rewarded for losing a play-in round series with the first overall pick. That's a problem. - kingcong39
Like I said
15 teams were in the draw.
It was the 2nd best option on the fairness scale.
If they had used plain points per entage ofblowext 15 teams...then a team could have conceivably won the SC and the 1st -OA.
There was no perfect option.

People forget the kings were ready to move on from Vilardi but he pulled a Casey - gerbe75pts
How did he pull a Casey, he has played a total of 10 games in the NHL. He looks like twice the player Casey is at this time |

They didn't offer Glotov a contract and he's no longer a part of the organization...? - kingcong39
That's unfortunate but I would then place R. Asplund in that spot.

I would have said the Kings had the best prospect pool in the NHL before getting Byfield/Stutzle.
What they have done the last two years is impressive. - Pegullaville
they have gotten nothing at the big league from 9 years of drafting
it was based on long term, not recent drafts |

Nick Shore, Tanner Pearson, Adrian Kempe, and Matt Roy (who is really good). That doesn't include last year's draft which is said by many to be strong on their part. |

They recently overhauled their scouting department and invested in an analytics one too.
The last few drafts have their prospect pool (they're not at the NHL yet obviously) tops in the league imo. |

Vilardi at C looks like the real deal, Turcotte will be there sooner than later at C, Dolan looks decent to. Kupari was hurt but has a decent chance to be good. They need RW and defense. - Buff36
Hmmmmmm.
Everybody was going nuts last year over Turcotte...me included (just wanted Cizens alot).

there is a really good chance the sens take 1 d man with their 2 picks
would not shock me if another team ahead of us either pick a d man or the goalie
I expect the sabres to be drafting the 6th offensive guy off the board when they do this draft
Perfetti or Holtz - homiedclown
Given the current depth chart, Holtz at RW makes a ton of sense for the Sabres. Possibly the best sniper in the draft too |

Probably been discussed already...
but i think it’s utter horsesh!t that a team in the playoffs this year is gonna get to pick 1st overall
Imagine if Price gets hot & the Pens end up getting it
They finished the Reg Season with the 7th best record in the league
How the f#ck would that make sense?!
NHL f#cks up again
I guess i shouldn’t be surprised by now

No, it’s anything but fair that the team with the 7th best record has a chance to pick 1st in the draft
It’s utterly stupid |

Turcotte should be the best player in that deal. Brown can slot in where Sam was for a couple years. We have too many rhd. And good goalies aren’t the easiest to find and petersen is better than Hutton and maybe ullmark too. I could definitely argue that this would make the Sabres better. |

Giving up a first line forward, 3rd pair RHD for a goalie with 19 career starts and forward with zero games played?
Even if you think Turcotte will be a star this is at best a lateral move long term not to mention doing them the courtesy of taking on Brown's contract?
This is the deal you make if you can't salvage your build and are prepared to blow it up. |

Is Sam really a true first line forward? Come playoff time? I’m not sure. |

If Turcotte leaves Wisconsin, he has elite skills, but he is kinda a unknown like Cozens, Cal hasn't really proven anything yet, but is probably a better 1b option than Hutton. If Eichel wasn't so pissed of I would probably do it, but really don't know how much it helps us next year. |

Is the implication he's not tough enough? Lots of "softies" still perform in the playoffs, modern day anyhow.
Also a huge chunk of Turcotte's scoring in college was on the man advantage. He did (frank) all at even strength, which generally isn't a good sign. |

Petersen looks pretty legit
And I’m a big fan of Turcotte
Doesn’t make us better immediately,
but it’s most likely a really good trade in the long run
Jack might lose his sh!t though
Maybe getting a Cup Winner & good leader like Brown helps ease the loss of Sam though |

What are your thoughts if Buffalo won 1 more game. They would be playing the Pens.
I bet you would change your tune and say its fair for the losing play-in teams to have a shot at 1OA and i bet you wouldn't be referring to the play-in games as the playoffs.

Nope
No one that made the playoffs should have a shot at picking top3 no matter what
And that would include the Sabres if we’d made it |

Yes, they are
They play a series of games & the winner moves on
Calling it something different is just semantics
A “play in game” would be ONE game
Not a 5 game series
If a team like the Pens wins the 1st pick it’s utter bullsh!t
