Is the implication he's not tough enough? Lots of "softies" still perform in the playoffs, modern day anyhow.
Also a huge chunk of Turcotte's scoring in college was on the man advantage. He did (frank) all at even strength, which generally isn't a good sign. - Michael Ghofrani
I followed Wisconsin a bit this year and they had a strange season. They had a very talented first power play unit. |

Yes, they are
They play a series of games & the winner moves on
Calling it something different is just semantics - jdfitz77
Calling it semantics is just the use to fit personal narrative.
They are playing a series to finish off the regular season for those teams that had a shot at the playoffs. Yes, Mtl, Chi, Ari didn't have a realistic shot at making the playoffs but adding them was the only way for the NHL to create even numbers and end in the traditional 16 team format.

Even still, those with super/star potential typically can do more damage at even strength because they can showcase their skill with limited time and space.
He could absolutely still be one, but there's nothing to suggest it so far, so in a deal like the one suggested there's nothing to back up taking a risk like that. |

My issue wouldn’t be so much with one of them winning it
But teams like Pitt, Edm, etc should not have a chance at the first pick
Call it whatever u want
These series are the post season
Win & move on, lose and you’re done
Sounds a lot like playoffs to me
At the end of the day,
no team like Pittsburgh should have a shot at the #1 pick
It’s stupid
Also...
Feel free to head back to the Flames board if u can find it? I couldn’t |

I see a team like Jersey drafting a goalie. They may even wait till its their pick to maybe trade down depending on who is left. Plus NJ has arizonas pick if they dont win lottery. - devias69
Maybe with Arizonas or nucks pick but not at 7 |

Giving up a first line forward, 3rd pair RHD for a goalie with 19 career starts and forward with zero games played?
Even if you think Turcotte will be a star this is at best a lateral move long term not to mention doing them the courtesy of taking on Brown's contract?
This is the deal you make if you can't salvage your build and are prepared to blow it up. - Michael Ghofrani
You're getting a Turcotte who will be a 2nd line center with a low cap hit to build with Jack, Dylan in the middle Sam is not worth his next contract and cant do anything without jack
Easy trade |

I still don't see how that makes the team better or Eichel any happier. At best you've swapped one problem for another. Who plays top line RW, 80 year old Dustin Brown?
Do we give Ristolainen more minutes? |

I don't think this is true, only 4 out of his 26pts came on the PP, and he's 2nd in freshman scoring in the big 10 |

If you can move Sam for a future 2nd line center you do it .. sam needs jack to be successful and I sure hope we don't pay him
And I said brown is alright not great he can still get 15-20 goals and be nasty towards other players and jack has asked management for that type of player ..
The trade wouldn't help us today but in the future if jack leaves |

Primary scoring, i should say. He had 2 goals and 3 primary assists in 23 games
Actually, he only 6 ev assists total so those other assists must have come from a different game state.
I have turcotte with 11 power play points, not sure where you got 4 from. |

A “play in game” would be ONE game
Not a 5 game series
If a team like the Pens wins the 1st pick it’s utter bullsh!t - jdfitz77
There are also eight teams playing that will move on whether they win or lose their first series. So, not really exactly the playoffs. It's the best way to give teams that were still alive for playoff berths a chance to make it. Evening up the numbers to make the tournament work lets a couple of teams that probably shouldn't be playing into the mix. It's an unprecedented situation and their plan isn't perfect, but it is what is. Hopefully all the higher seeds advance (except for one, that is), and all this worry becomes irrelevant.
The higher seeded team you probably should be doing the advance freak about is the Leafs. Columbus could take them out, at least it seems much more likely than the Pens losing to the Habs. Or imagine if CHI takes out the Oilers? |

Yeah missed the 9 assists in my post Sorry Missed it, so he went half and half. Still not bad for a Freshman in 29gms. But If Jack wasn't so pissed I would probably do the trade, but it doesn't really help us next year. |

I didn’t like when teams like Philly jumped way up to win a top3 pick either
Teams should be limited in how much they can move up with a lotto win
The NHL used to do that
This would’ve been the perfect time to bring that back
That way if a team like Pitt or EDM win it,
they aren’t picking in the top3
Just seems ridiculous that we could see a good team pick 1st in the draft
That possibility should not exist |

Jets, Flames, Leafs and Jackets are that teams that benefit the most. All 4 were in a playoff spot at time of stoppage. All 4 want to win and play for the cup.
Best case scenario is one of the west teams wins lottery (Edmonton not being one of them). |

I think if they want to keep 8, they need to build a package around 55, Mitts or Samuelsson and maybe a 2nd rounder to get a top 6 forward for right now.
I think it’s pretty clear Risto isn’t bringing back much on his own. I hope I’m wrong but it was another awful season defensively (please for the love of god don’t tell me his +/-) and another year he didn’t do a ton 5 on 5 offensively.
He and Montour have the value of middle of the road 2nd pairing D men.
Package one with Mitts or Samuelsson and hopefully get a player back who can help now |

The bold is the reality.
I'd also add that if takes Reinhart being the center piece of a trade that brings back a real Center such as Sean Monahan, it should also be considered. |

I agree. Moving forward, this offseason and next season is critical to be positive.
Do they wait to extend Dahlin or do they try before season starts?
Buffalo cannot afford to miss the playoffs. If they do, does Jack ask to be traded publicly forcing their hand and does it cause Dahlin to question a long term future in Buffalo. |

The players voted by team on whether to participate or not. Plans limiting their lottery opportunity if "upset" in the play-in round probably wouldn't have flown with several teams.
They should've just freakin waited until this surrogate season finale was completed before having the lottery. Then each losing team would've had the normal miniscule individual chance of winning based on points % or however, instead of seemingly combining eight teams chances into one for the drawing last night. Resulting in them each now having a 12.5% chance of winning. That, to me, is the effed up part of it all. |
