Yes there would people calling it unfair. The teams that should have been in the lottery, teams 8-15, who are removed because of the tweak.
Just because something isnt changed to benefit you, doesnt mean it is unfair. Honestly you sound like child. This much wasted energy and female doging, by not just you, but so many on the board is absolutely ridiculous. - Mentalorgasm5
How in God's name are they removed? If they're removed it's because they're playing for the goddamn Cup. I would take that trade every day. Especially this year when it's entirely possible a great team has a hole blown through their lineup because of a virus. And FFS, this isn't about the Sabres, it's about the idiocy of the NHL that always has to change things and, almost universally, make them worse than they were before.
They had a perfectly good system. A lottery where a team could only move up 4 spots. Then they made it where they could move up to number 1, then they decreased the odds, then they made it a lottery for the top 3 where you have a higher chance of dropping back than you do staying where you are. After 5 or 6 the odds should drop off precipitously where the top 5 or 6 teams have a 90% chance for the top spots, and the other 9 or 10 teams have a 10% chance to move up. Better yet, go back to the old lottery where there's one draw and you can only move up 4 spots. |

Not a bad package
Only problem with that is they’re all unknown pieces
In a realistic trade with the Ducks,
I wouldn’t mind us trying to get Manson from them if we are taking Henrique off their hands
Don’t like Henrique’s contract, but that could help us get him pretty cheap
Maybe they’d like Tage or Asplund?
And i wonder if they’d take day Samuelsson for Manson?
Manson could partner with Dahlin as a steady, physical, stay at home type
This is all assuming they realize they need to blow it up there, which they really do |

I was thinking of adding Manson, just if I am trading Eichel it's because we are (frank)ed and might as well go with a total rebuild. Plus I think more highly of Samuelsson then most on these boards. |

I moved on from trading Eichel bc i cant really imagine it happening
The thing with Samuelsson is that he needs so much work on his skating if he’s gonna be a 20min a night defenseman in the NHL
He could very well end up being the defenseman version of Fasching
Plus, the Ducks are gonna want something with the upside Samuelsson has if they’re trading Manson
Maybe they’d rather have Ryan Johnson? |

Yeah pretty much with Eichel, and Johnson can't be used in that deal cause he's going to Chicago. To me the Sabres aren't really that far off, if they can add 3 or 4 decent pieces this year and a couple youngins take the next step they should be able to compete against anybody. |

Oooooooooooh
Ok, that makes sense
What else are we giving up for Strome?
I might actually rather get Henrique, bc with his contract i think we could get him pretty cheap
And i think Cozens is our 2C at some point
Henrique has the 2way game to transition to 3C
Idk that Strome does |

Conjecture imo
In one season he went from asking for a trade,
to liking playing for Ralph
He’s just frustrated with losing
Winning cures A LOT
We’ll have to see if Adams can make the key additions we need
Replacing ROR has been an utter disaster
And we need better goaltending - jdfitz77

He knows he’s not here long term. It’s best for both sides to do it now.
If we need to add a piece to get a top 6 forward that’s fine. |

Strome is a lot like Monahan in terms of being almost all offense and not much defense. |

Well depending on there LTIR and Kubalik contract they might not have the cap space for Strome. And I don’t see why he can't go to 3C depending on who he is between. |

Didn’t he also say he liked playing for Ralph?

Right
That’s why i can’t see him transitioning into a 3C role
If we do acquire Strome,
that would probably mean Cozens permanently moves to RW
Which i suppose is fine
But i see him as the 2C behind Eichel

Depends how u wanna build your team
Obviously lines 1 & 2 would be our key scoring lines & get plenty of icetime
But you also need a line that handles tough defensive matchups & situations
I don’t think u want either of your scoring lines doing that
If Strome is the 3C, then it can’t be his line that does that
So it would have to be line4
That’s fine... except that’s going to mean line3 doesn’t play much 5v5
And how much is Strome’s contract gonna cost
Idk that we want him not playing all that much with the 5mil + contract he’ll have
This is where a 2way type guy like Henrique makes sense
Bc he can take on at least some of those defensive assignments, which means line3 can be more of a 2way line & still get decent icetime
And you’d just lessen line4’s icetime

So Henrique on the cheap. What does that look like?
And can you add a top 6 rw as well? Anderson? Or. ???
I’d take Henrique and a 2rw... that checks boxes for me. Allows cozens to develop and let’s Henrique slide to 3c. While mitts develops (unless he’s traded, which I’m fine with)....
Skinner. Jack. Samson
Olo. Henrique. RW (anderson?)
Mojo. Conzens. Kahun, tage, mitts...

Yeah, roughly
Doesn’t beat Tampa or Boston, but i think it gets us in the playoffs
And like u point out, allows Mitts & Cozens to develop naturally instead of putting them in tough situations
And i like your Anderson idea at RW
Another guy who shouldn’t cost too much to get
Still gotta figure out some consistent goaltending
And probably find a LH defenseman,
especially if we trade Montour or Risto
But i think it’s pretty obvious that a 2C & RW2 would be a very big help for us |

Risto for Matt Murray?
Left hand d? I’m not sure, free agent?
I’m fine getting into playoffs. That should be step one... |

Sabres have plenty of trade capital to secure a 2C and another middle 6 player between assets like
Reinhart, Risto, Montour, Miller, Johansson, Tage and Mitts.
They don't need to trade the 8th, which according to the draft prognosticators the 8th would normally be a Top 5 rated player...i.e probably a Top 6 NHL player.
The question is can this front office manage to make the proper trades. - IonSabres
Trade away players needed for players needed doesn’t make you stronger.
In this case the short term 10000000% outweighs the long term here.
Getting a player now gets this team in the right direction without removing any pieces from it.
If the draft is that strong teams will be bidding for that pick no? |
|

After Eichel voiced his displeasure yet again, the AVS called regarding if Eichel was available. Just found out, no names were mentioned or if Botterill responded.
IMO it's suicide if you move Eichel. - SABRES 89
With Eichel’s comments and a new GM with no experience, every GM in the league will be calling Buffalo |

Here’s my argument for trade 8 or trade up.
1.We won’t get Rossi or Perfetti at 8
2. Holtz not ready for 3 years
3. IF, and I mean IF Perfetti drops to 8 it’s for the primary reason he is too small
4. We need a this year solution and we don’t have much that gets us that - lulags
From all I read, Holtz is almost nhl ready, certainly not 3 years removed |

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...ntious-nhl-draft-lottery/
four years added onto two remaining seasons; 20 per cent escrow limit for players in 2020-21; somewhere between 14-18 per cent in 2021-22, with a hope of getting into single digits after; salary cap of $81.5 million for the next two seasons, and $82.5 million in 2022-23; a 10 per cent player “deferral” next season (which includes July 1 signing bonuses due next week), where players will get that money back in the future when escrow is lower
One thing I’ve struggled understanding is what this deferment means to a team’s cap situation. Some sources indicated they thought this would give teams extra room, but another countered by saying he understood it “counted in the year earned.” So, still waiting for clarity on this.
Good question on the above. |
