Agreed - if Drysdale goes top 7, I still hope at least one of Holtz, Lundell and/or Hughes goes before our pick. Really like Holtz, but love Raymond, Rossi and Perfetti.
Lundell is a really good 2 way center but I see his talent as slightly below the above and I would take Hughes and Sanderson before him. With #8 I take a chance on a high ceiling guy over a guy who probably tops out as a very reliable 3C - turbo044

Lundell would make for a hell of a Center group. |

Heard they might be in on ruff. Adams and ruff coached together in buffalo.
NJ seems like a good opportunity though |

Cj Smith to STL for Tyler Bozak
Collin Miller to CAR for Hayden Fleury
Rasmus Ristolainen to WIN for Roslovic and Niku
8th overall to SJS for Tomas Hertl
Sign Demelo - chilliard77
Why would the Blues take that kind of crap return for Bozak?
You're thinking the Hurricanes are short on RHD so they would trade a young, low cost LHD for a 3rd pairing RHD who is making triple what Fleury is making? Why would they do that?
Niku has looked like a 7th round pick so far in the NHL, and instead of Roslovic, can we get Andrew Copp?
No way on the 8th overall for Hertl. He has 2 years left on his current deal, and he's coming off his second major knee injury. Warning signs abound for him.
I agree on going after DeMelo as an FA. |

There is no way I would take Sanderson before Lundell.
Sanderson is a very late riser, and I almost never trust that.
Also, Lundell has a higher ceiling than what you said above. |

When you put it that way....I'm okay with it. Lundell has the defensive awareness of Ryan O'reilly, but, maybe not the offensive upside? who knows. He probably plays one more year in the Finnish elite league and comes over for the 2021/season. He already ahs an NHL body but of course could use a bit more strength. This writeup makes me mostly happy:
As Finland’s top prospect in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft, Anton Lundell is perhaps the most well-rounded player available. But despite his high draft ranking and impressive track record, Lundell remains a puzzling player, at least for some pundits.
The 6-foot-1 centre is currently having a strong year for HIFK of the Finnish Liiga, having posted 10 goals and 18 assists for a total of 28 points through 44 games. He’s backed up that strong production with equally impressive underlying numbers (his 62.8 percent Corsi for leads HIFK), suggesting that he’s been dominant in every zone. The production was there for Lundell last season, too, as he tallied 9 goals and 19 points in 38 games for HIFK as a 17-year-old. To put up these kinds of numbers in a pro league playing against men is no small feat, which is why he’s caught the eye of so many scouts.
When you watch Lundell play, there are a couple of things that stand out almost immediately. First and foremost, he seems to always be in the right spot at the right time. He’s not the fleetest of foot (though he skates well enough), but he uses his excellent hockey sense and anticipation to read the play. He often scores goals by getting to the open space at just the right time, and he consistently makes quick, smart passes to set up his teammates.
With his relatively strong frame, Lundell excels down low in the cycle, always making intelligent plays to maintain possession for his team. The positional awareness and poise that he possesses are exceedingly rare to see from such a young player, which is why he is considered to be a relatively “safe” pick — a near guarantee to develop into at least a second-line centre in the NHL.
However, because Lundell is so committed to smart positioning and strong defensive play, he’s been criticized for a lack of offensive “flash.” Without that one standout skill that most top prospects have, he’s sometimes written off as more of a potential middle-six than top-six centre.
Corey Pronman of The Athletic ranks Lundell at No. 16 and provides a glimpse into this stance: “I’ve watched Lundell closely for three years – seeing him live at least 20 times and many more on video – and I still have no idea what to make of him. When I watch him play nothing about his game stands out. I think his skating is average and his skill is just above-average.” (from: “Pronman: Ranking the 2020 NHL Draft top prospects at midseason” – The Athletic – Jan. 29, 2020)
On the other hand, Pronman’s colleague Scott Wheeler is higher on Lundell and offers an explanation as to why he may be a misunderstood talent: “The idea that has been floated out there in the public and private sphere that he doesn’t have high-end offensive tools is bogus. We often mistake versatility or a sound two-way game as meaning Player X may project in a third-line role. And while that’s true for some players, it’s a long way from an honest assessment of Lundell’s game.” (from: “Wheeler: Midseason ranking for the 2020 NHL Draft’s top 62 prospects” – The Athletic – Feb. 19, 2020)
Ultimately, what you can expect from Lundell is a complete 200-foot game, smart decision making with and without the puck, and a knack for finding the back of the net. Couple that with his track record of producing in a men’s league and you can see why he is so highly touted. |

2 years away, one more in the finnish elite league then probably the NHL. In saying that everyone from pick #2 down has serious doubts for the NHL next year. Even scouts say Byfield could use one more year in the minors. |

After deeper research, I agree. I've only concentrated on the top 8 or 9 rated players (as we pick 8) and did properly research him. Hughes also is a very late riser, did nothing as a 17 year old and is one of the oldest 18 year olds in the draft, Warning flags all around.
I still like Sanderson a lot and would take him over Hughes, but not over any of the other forwards that will eventually be available to us |

Yes 1 more year would do him good, put on a little weight, but it would not surprise me if he just stood out at rookie and training camp and made the team if he was selected. Been high on him for awhile. But if Rossi or Holtz are there they would be my selection. |

this is an active board so someone answer this ..
why do some people think there will be a compliance buyout sometime this year?
with a flat cap for the next couples seasons and revenues severely diminished, why would the owners be willing to pay players not to play?
doesnt sound like its happening to me... |

That would be awesome. John Shannon said he wouldnt be surprised if Kruegs becomes PoHO a few days ago on Schopp & BD. Surprised it wasn’t talked about. Did say within 24 mos though and anyone could say that. I thought it was part of the plan all along.

Then you’ll be glad they signed Cam. He’s trash at this point in his career - Fattony1187
I’m not sure he is, but I don’t think he can play the Patriot Way. Don’t think Belichick will be able to stand his antics. Then again, he might be brought in as a change of pace QB, which all signs pointing will be a thing for 2020. |

I highly doubt there will be a compliance buyout know with the flat cap, but I am no expert could the players push for it with what is happening with the escrow. |

Offer to go upstairs and bring in a coach? I hope it happens and I hope it’s Lindy. IMO that would seem like things are in good hands like the Bills. |

Krueger has Pegula's ear on everything, Adams is GM in nameplate only. Pegula's problem is he thinks he knows all regarding the Sabres and he doesn't. He trusts Krueger. This hasn't worked for 2 GM's and 3 coaches now but he still can't see it. |

Love it 3ER
As a season ticket holder, I would be thrilled.
Last year apparently ruff felt like he interviewed well enough for the job? Made me feel like there was some rekindling of the pegula/ruff sparks.
Also seems like a move that they announce when the puck drops in the laferierre bowl.

Because the teams that will make money no matter what the econimic climate is will want them. The flat cap will make it harder for them to add UFAs and resign their RFAs.
So buying out a big contract that was a bust will allow them to spend more money than the small market/non traditional hockey markets.

I haven't seen Lundell play but this writeup brought the thought of someone like Michael Peca without the big hits. Smart, two way player with some offensive skills but none that are dynamic but a real complete player.
