a good chunk of his moves were. Taking on Datsyuk's cap hit to move up and take Chychrun
moving Stone, adding Hjalmarsson, fleecing the Flyers for picks in 2017, adding Kuemper.
But yeah, it's mixed in with a bunch of moves that are suspect at best. Thats why I thought maybe pressure from ownership played a factor, with say Stepan and even the Hall trade. - Michael Ghofrani
I never thought of Stephan as a No. 1 C |

I don't think even Chayka believed that. |

I thought he had a good season and they like him in his 1b center role |

If the Pegula's were the original owners of the Sabres there is no way they win a spin of the wheel and get Gil Perreault. We start off with Dale Tallon and grow up as little lumbering skaters who play D and not fast deking forwards. Thank God for the Knoxes. |

Love Rico myself. And he did lead the team in goals...
But I could definitely see him playing the wing also on a line with Danton and Steel in the middle . |

Sure but why would Chicago agree to this?
It’s like saying we’d trade Reinhart and a 3rd for 2 bottom 6 prospect who may see the NHL some day and a 2nd. Would you do this? - turbo044
Rumor is he could be had for cheap as they don’t want an expensive third line center.. plus it would be cool to start an annual drumming of Chi in a trade. |

I suppose there's something to the idea of The Hawks helping rebuild the Sabres after winning with Buffalo's best. |

You do realize what league Holtz played in and what 9 goals as a 17 year old translates to in that league? - turbo044
Is that the league where Berglund is a goal scoring dynamo? Dahlin really showing how good that league is too. The 7 goals he scored in his best year has translated to the NHL. Would be nice if Dahlin decided he wanted to start being a difference maker sometime soon. All bark no bite. Just like the SWEHL. Dude never finished. Would dazzle and shoot into goalie’s leg pads. Move him to 2C and find out if he is Foppa 2.0. Or pack his bags for a 2C. |

Talk to Buff36. Risto woulda got Strome and 30 goal scorer Kubalik as a throwin when he already had 25. |

Absolutely he is, but Murray wants Zegras to play top 6 ... And Rico either as a 3rd C or wing Could have some really favorable matchups against D pairs..
And if we get Rossi this year well that would be a homerun... I’m hoping for him or Drysdale. |

What do they need that the Sabres might have? |

First off, I feel terrible for Detroit fans. That’s just the most unlucky bullpoop ever to fall to fourth.
The only hope we really had at turning this around any time soon was winning a top two pick in this lottery. We had to get lucky and it didn’t happen. Cozens, UPL and Pekar can all be nice pieces when they’re ready, but only Cozens has a chance at making any real impact, and we need way more than one additional impact player.
These are the darkest days in our franchise’s history and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.
With Eichel and Dahlin you would think it would be impossible not to create a roster around them to be competitive but our owners somehow make that possible.
Who forced the GM to make a trade before a bonus was due to O’Reilly not giving the GM a chance to get fair value? Who sent LaFontaine running because they wanted to play GM when they had no clue what they were doing? Who hired non experienced GMs to be in charge of a rebuild? Who meddles in free agent decisions and has to have daily talks with the GMs to make sure what they want is being done?
The Pegulas ruined this franchise. They are an embarrassment and a disgrace. The suffering is only beginning as there will be a mass exodus as soon as players can get out of here they will. We’re not just going to break the record for longest playoff drought, we are going to crush it.
The Pegulas are right up there next to Trump as the biggest douchebags to ever exist on this planet. Stupid people who think they’re smart because they have money. It’s a shame, because there are a dozen people posting on these boards daily that could and would do a much better job running this franchise.
Who fires a GM and replaces him with someone with no experience at all before even trying to do a search to see who’s available for them? What a freaking joke. |

The Sabres could still have a shot if all goes bad with COVID 19
@TSNBobMcKenzie
· 57m
If the 2019-20 Return to Play does not occur for any reason, the teams with the 8th to 15th lowest points percentage at the pause would equal shots (12.5 per cent) at getting the No. 1 overall pick. Keep in mind, though, not all those teams may not own their first-round pick. - GilPerreault11
You’ll have to explain how the Sabres could have a shot... because.. they don’t and are picking 8th. |

Ok I’ll down I guess. My point was that they have lots of money tide up in different places, and Strome, while good, on the third line wont provide the umpf for the dollar needed. And people know this. So why not see if he could be had for cheap. Also, we seem to have good trade history with chi. Dom, Joki, and who’s next? |
