I certainly hope so. And if that’s the case, fine. But the contract issue still looms and I think we agree on that aspect.

Unless Montour wants 5+ mil which I absolutely don’t think he should get, I think the smart bet is Risto gone and Montour getting a 3-4 year 4 mil deal

The contract issue and the very real possibility his body begins to break down from the massive amount of minutes he has played. His remarkable run of good health will end, and I would not want to be the team on the hook for his next contract when that happens.

Doesn’t mean he will get it though. He’s a RFA. He can go to arb and will probably get 4-4.5 on a 1 year deal.

I liked Montour a ton when we got him, but IMO he’s a utility type of player and not a core top 3 d man.

Trust me, they don't need incentives from Russia or Iran or anyone else. They gladly do it for free (and they do).

And maybe avoid questioning the patriotism of someone who was actually in Afghanistan...
