Yes, a year ago. Do you believe both players still have comparable value? I do not.

Askarov can be great, but they cannot pass on Rossi or Holtz in favor of Askarov if Rossi and Holtz are available at 8.

Idk maybe the jets want him still ... i agree with the forwards but I wouldn't be upset if we drafted askarov

I'll be stanning Holtz until the draft. Which I assume means we'll pick Raymond, because Rossi won't be there.

This place would become the Josh Allen draft day extravaganza.

Yes.
And Joker is still very young to couple with another very young Dman on the 1st pairing.
In time, I too can see him being Dahlin's partner..or, better yet Joker anchors the 2nd pairing for a long time.
Find a strong defensively aware Dman partner for both, prosper.

I could see Joker playing 2nd pairing minutes this season, to allow his development curve to continue on. This is why I am adamant about trading both Risto and Monte. Joker and Miller are fine for 2nd & 3rd pairing. Monte and Risto are not 1st pairing dmen.

Remember that one time we got a top 4, 20 year old dman for Alex Nylander.

You seem obsessed with the bolded above, without knowing if it's true or not, and the truth is we won't know until we see the moves the team makes in all avenues (players drafted, trades, and signings) and the results of the team that will follow.
- kingcong39

crowe's resume includes:

--1 yr.-plus as a scout in the ushl
--2 yrs. dir of player personnel for usntdp of the ushl
--3 yrs. as a pro scout for the sabres

some people are better as worker bees...some are better as managers...some can make that transition...others can't

you're right, we don't know what the future holds for crowe and it could very well be a great move...however it's a big jump just from pro scout to director of that one department, now they've got him in charge of two departments when we don't even know if he can manage people in one at the nhl-level...that resume and those factors indicate, to me, that he's in way over his head

More mixed messaging from PSE?

Understand there’s now some unhappiness over all the dead money contracts suddenly on the #Sabres books.

Seems like people at the top of PSE are not quite pleased that there is so much dead money on the books now.......

apparently they didn't fully understand the fallout from the nuclear device they dropped on the organization...

also makes me wonder if botts got wind and took care of as many as he could before getting the axe...i think greeley and sexton got extensions and i thought i read wear taylor was close to one

I really don't see how you go wrong at pick 8 with any of the forwards. Or Drysdale if he makes it that far. It feels like 2019 with Dach, Cozens, Byram, Zegras, Turcotte, Caufield, you're getting one of them and you can't lose (at time of draft).

This handful will be Stutzle, Raymond, Perfetti, Rossi, Drysdale, Holtz and Lundell all with picks 3-9. Plus you know Detroit is going to go off the board. Any one of those guys would be a gift.

it seems as if adams and krueger are on somewhat of equal footing right now....if they brought in duds to handle player personnel, would he be considered on equal footing?...is that what a flat organization does?

not sure

- Michael Pachla

I find this flat organization concept for the Sabres to be interesting.
When first used as an organizational concept in business so many years ago, the flat org concept was directly connected to a directive to "get closer to the customer"; where levels of supervision/management were reduced so decision makers could "hear"the customer more directly.
In the Pegula's case, it seems they have tipped that upside down so that their flat organization means that they, the Owners can better be heard. If they were competent hockey minds, this would be great. But in this situation where they have literally botched the org through their directives, well, it doesn't bode well for The Sabres, IMO.

Hiring Dudley without giving him control would certainly fall online with a Flat Organization concept, while implementing a Wide Organization where the Pegula's make more decisions...because they are the smartest people in the room and it has gone amazingly well for 9 years.

Makes me think that an ape with a suitcase full of money could have succeeded in the fracking business.

They don't get extensions without ownership approval. More dysfunction, more wiping their ass with money.

Analogy time: When you were chosen as Sabres blogger, some could have thought of you as in over your head, but all it took was a few consistent quality blogs to see that was not the case.

All I'm saying is before we make an assumption, let's see what moves they make and go from there. Let's judge based on the results and not assumptions.
