Then you add to #8.
They can't keep waiting for these kids. - Powerslave
The best you're going to hope for is someone like Hertl or Monahan, and you don't give up the 8th overall for that.
Big mistake doing that.
You make the pick if one of the top players is available there (Rossi, Holtz, Raymond, Perfetti, Lundell, Drysdale) and use other pieces to address the Center need.
If a team absolutely has to have a 1st round pick as part of a deal and the player coming back is worth it, use the 2021 1st. Even leave it unprotected if absolutely necessary.
The real bottom line is no team is trading a Cirelli or Point unless something absurd is offered, and making that kind of deal would be a big mistake. |

That link is from April 1st...
There won't be compliance buyouts.
Owners do not want to pay players again to not play. |

If there's a team that is in cap trouble, those other "pieces" (salary) won't help them.
A 1st helps them.
Whatever the deal is, he better make one or two to help this team in a big way. |

Why would you trade The pick when we don’t even know when we’ll be playing hockey again next season. Better develop a player than have someone’s current nhl deal expire.
I’d rather trade up using the pick. |

So......let’s say Toronto loses in the qualifying round and gets the #1 pick. Will everyone here still think this draft scenario was fair? I’ll hang up and listen. |

And you make the pick the Sabres suck and then Jack requests and trade and we are all super happy to be here. |

No one is going to trade down. That doesn’t happen in the NHL |

It's a tough situation this year with the Draft and what is happening in the world. There might not be much hockey anywhere, do you use the pick on a Prospect that might not play hockey for awhile and hurt his development or do you try and make a trade for something that is known. I am making that pick and if Holtz or Lundell are there I am having Kim's pool boy run up to the stage with the pick. |

Lundell will definitely be there, and it's starting to seem like Holtz will be as well.
Make the pick, even if it's Drysdale, and use all other resources, including the 2021 1st round pick if needed, to make the forward additions needed. |

Sabres have plenty of trade capital to secure a 2C and another middle 6 player between assets like
Reinhart, Risto, Montour, Miller, Johansson, Tage and Mitts.
They don't need to trade the 8th, which according to the draft prognosticators the 8th would normally be a Top 5 rated player...i.e probably a Top 6 NHL player.
The question is can this front office manage to make the proper trades.

No way no how the Ducks let Drysdale get past them if he's there@ 6. Even if Rossi and or Raymond are available.

I dont know who is who, i have heard its a strong draft at the top? I havent followed closely this year but
What has changed from last year in terms of assets to aquire a 2c? Or impact player of any kind for that matter. Unless you are banking on Adams actually pulling the trigger on a deal and simply getting better by the change
Also, time appears to be ticking for eichel and even more so than last year its time to stop looking 2 or 3 years ahead |

No thanks. The bloom is off the rose for Montour for me.
If a team really likes Montour and has quality forwards they're willing to offer, I'd be listening and taking the best deal. - kingcong39
Didn’t monte start the season injured, then he was played at both LD and RD, some times in the same game, consistently with different partners?!?
Do we know what a healthy monte played in his natural position looks like.
Or is he just another case of Sabres miss utilizing a player. Not putting the player in the best position to succeed. Not playing to the individual’s strengths but smashing round peg into square hole....
Please see ... mitts at 2c for 2 years. Tage up while everyone saw he needed to be in the Ahl. Bogo on the team. Pilot not. Mojo as a center. Leino as a center. Ott as a center. Waiting at the airport for olli. |

Yes please. And then add Henrique at a lesser cost for 2 years. Year 1- 2c. Year 2 3c.
Let cozens and mitts develop. |

When it came to the card flipping last night, was anyone as certain as me that our card would show up for 8 ? I said to my wife : "Watch, first card will be Buffalo". A second later, boom - it happened. I just laughed so hard ... Turned it off immediately after I saw the card - so disgusted that I didn't even care to see what happened next.
