He was the best player out of the deal we sent but is what a 3C at best? We could really use Oreilly right now - Fattony1187
top-nine...strong two-way game, strong 3C with the ability to be used in a second-line role (he can also play wing) when necessary...
i'd like to see an analytical comparison between him and kerfoot |

Zadarov doesn't suck, he isn't a top pair guy, but he is a decent 5-6. He would bring some grit to a team solely lacking it. Mean he had 54% Dzone starts and finished a +9 this year. Wouldn't take him in a package for Rhino but I would take him back on this team. And the Pegulas caused those scrubs for ROR. - Buff36
Zadorov is another brain dead, minimal hockey sense defenseman that has the physical tools but none of the acumen needed to be a quality player. The Sabres already have 2 of those. |

All dates are tentative and highly subject to change. If getting an agreement or ratifying drags on, changes can and will be made, but it’s my understanding these are target dates:
July 13: Training camps (Phase 3) open
July 26: Teams report to Hubs
Aug 1: Games begin (Phase 4)
The second phase of the NHL draft lottery will occur immediately following the best-of-five, play-in qualifying series, so around Aug. 10-12 if all were to go well. Stanley Cup final would wrap up in early October. NHL draft would happen soon after that. |

HEY!!! That was my idea sir, lol
But yeah... looks good
I’d still try to bring back Larsson though
Henrique can definitely take on some defensive responsibility
But I’d still like to see line2 in a mostly offensive role
It would be a lot to ask if Asplund to take on that heavy defensive role right now imo
Maybe put him on the wing on that line & ease him in a bit? - jdfitz77
Sorry good fitz. I like the idea.
Tony had a few good posts on the last thread as well.

Too much TV revenue lost, you would then likely see a decent Cap reduction.
Will you watch the games in August and Sept if they pull them off?
Curious. |

all much better then what they got - homiedclown
See. I had a feeling that botts wasn’t to blame for that trade. That is annoying.

Not sure if anyone posted this, but here's an article about the Avs trading for Reinhart. - adambuffalo
Bye bye sam.
Sam could probably keep up a his career numbers playing with McKinnon
A goal every .2725 games - basically 1 goal every 4 games. 109 in 400 games
And an assist every .365 games- basically an assist every 3 games. 146 in 400 games

If the Jets win the first overall pick, they make great trading partners with Buffalo.
To WPG: Jack Eichel, Kyle Okposo
To BUF: Patrik Laine, Adam Lowry, 2020 2nd round pick, 2021 first round pick, 2021 third round pick |

Never said 30 was old, but do you want to be paying a guy until he's 35, if you have a chance to pick up a 25 yr old or 26 yr old. If Calgary wants that fine, I just was talking about the trade and then getting a chance at being younger. - Buff36
I hear ya
And that does make sense
I just wonder if that’s worth them giving up Lindholm
If i was a Calgary fan, I’d say no & just wanna bring back Hammonic
And if Calgary’s analytics guys already nixed a trade of Risto a couple years ago,
what’s changed to make them want him now?
Seems like they’d be more interested in Montour possibly than Risto, no? |

Or, or the elderly protect themselves by not allowing others to come and visit them unless they have tested as negative very recently. Ot do we need the government to dictate every God blessed action. - IonSabres
Do u see how stupid ppl are acting?
I don’t think it’s remotely realistic to think ppl will quarantine themselves for 2 weeks before going to see their grandparents/parents
And how are the elderly gonna know?
U really think parents are gonna be like,
“Ok, u can come over for dinner...
just make sure u bring your test with you”
Let’s be real here dude
That’s just not gonna happen |

I agree, it is sounding more and more if they don't do good in this years playoffs that they could blow it up in Calgary. If that happens what would you be willing to do for say Monahan Lindholm Talbot |

The delay in getting the test results would need to mean the following:
- Tested and went straight home
- Did not leave the apartment or the house and property until test results came back negative
- That means no trips to the grocery store and zero deliveries, maybe not even getting the mail, just to be as safe as possible
- Test results come back negative, go to the grandparents house with no other interactions with anyone on the way there
- Still wear a mask
How many, if any, people are taking all of those precautions? I'd guess virtually nobody. - kingcong39

So Qualityg of Linemate mean nothing in your mind?
Girgenson, Pouilet, Grffeth, Bailey, etc are such obvious studs.
In a very, very small sample size with virtually AHL or barely 4th line players he managed to produce neutral GF / GA metrics and decent possession numbers given higher Dzone starts.
Interesting take.
Perhaps they should have tried him for say 30 games with NHL talent like Olofsson and MoJo to see what they really had. Side benefit would have been giving good minutes for Skinner with Jack.
Last season, with respect to knowing what we had with Sam rather than assuming and guessing, it was clearly a lost opportunity.
I wonder if Nightengale brings this up. - IonSabres
Right?!
We were willing to try freaking Sobatka there,
but not Sam?!
WHY???
That’s what i wanna know
Just give a reason
I wish someone in the media would at least try to get this question answered |

Probably wouldn't happen, just going of what they said and another side note, from that article, supposedly they had a trade worked out for Lindholm+ for ROR but Calgary backed out when the Sabres wouldn't pay the bonus. - Buff36
Ugh
Now that would’ve been a decent trade
I really like Lindholm coming out in his draft year
Curious to see if Calgary will try to move him back to Center or keep him on the wing
I think he could be a top10 2way Center in the league |

2017-18 in a 3rd line center role for the first 16 games of the season when the Sabres went 5-9-2...
Reinhart had five points (2+3) and was a minus-9 (tied for second worst on the team)...of his points, three (1+2) came on the powerplay - Michael Pachla
Right...
With linemates who’ve not played in the NHL again since that season
If u think that’s giving someone a legitimate shot at the Center position,
then we’re just gonna have to agree to disagree
Bc i wouldn’t have expected much production from anyone with garbage wingers like Pouliot & and Career AHLer Seth Griffith
Come on man |

Fitz the Pegulas really (frank)ed up in that ROR bullpoop. Could of had Domi and Garland to, Botts had a trade lined about 2 1/2 weeks before the bonus was to be paid, but Arizona backed out because they wouldn't budge on paying it, 2 days later Domi was traded to Montreal. |

I don’t think much of Talbot
Idk if they’d trade those guys as part of “blowing it up” though?
Sounds like Gaudreau is the guy they’d move
Who i do think would look great with Jack
But with what a sh!t show we have going on here right now, I’d be worried that he’ll just walk after 2yrs when his deal is up
And we aren’t getting him “cheap”
But let’s say Calgary is willing to trade those guys
I gotta think it at least starts with Sam & Cozens
Bc the only thing they have at Center behind Monahan is Backlund, and he’s just an “ok” 2C at this point |
