Correct. And if we sign Sam to a 6-7 year deal we obviously run into major issues years 2-4 |

Just curious if option, especially those who are all in on signing Reinhart
Which of the following goes and my projected salary
Kuhun 2.5
Oloffson 5
Lazar 1.5
Reinhart 6.5
Dahlin 8
Joker 2.5
Montour 4
Ullmark 3
Mitts 2.5
Cozens 6
Samuelsson 3
Luukko 3.5
2020 #8 ??
Am I missing anyone ? - lulags
Seriously this is like 4 years down the road. Most if not all those players won't earn that much.
People scared to spend money now because in 5 years we don't know what players will earn?
If only there was a way to get ride of players on your team to other teams for some of their assets. Some kind of bartering system, the NHL should look into this. |

Every state has rising coronavirus cases you moron. Do you even think before you spew out your nonsense? If you mean rising rates in coronavirus, which I’ll have to give you the benefit of not knowing how to properly articulate your position, after all you are Republican, then your claim is simply false.
According to the CDC website the states with the most new cases per 100,000 residents(that equals rate in case you can’t figure it out) over the past seven days are: Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Ohio, Illinois, Mississippi, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Utah, Arkansas, Washington, Wisconsin, Virginia, Missouri, Indiana, Maryland, Iowa and Minnesota. In that order. https://www.cdc.gov/covid...-tracker/index.html#cases
California, Illinois, Washington, Nevada, Maryland and Virginia were the only blue states on that list in the last election. https://www.270towin.com/...2016-actual-electoral-map
That’s 6 states out of the top 25 which is 24% of the states. This means that 76% of the top 25 states where the majority of voters supported Trump last election have the worst coronavirus rate.
Now I’ll have to break down which states have Democratic Governors, because, again, you can’t articulate your argument in an understandable way, so I have to cover all bases before you spew out more garbage you make up pretending it’s true. Of the top 25 states in new coronavirus rate the following have Democratic Governors: California, North Carolina, Louisiana, Illinois, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Washington, Virginia and Minnesota. That’s 9 out of 25 which makes 36% of the top 25 states in new coronavirus case rate have Democratic Governors. https://en.m.wikipedia.or...f_United_States_governors
I am being nice by doing the top 25. Because if you want to break it down by top 10 or top 5 the numbers are even worse for your argument.
So what you’re saying is complete BS. I realize that’s the working model for your side these days, you have to make things up or twist facts to try to win an argument.
So do me a favor and cite your source, or provide some data to support your contention. Because everything I see says the complete opposite of what you’re trying to claim. Oh, and go screw yourself while you’re at it. |

Why would Cozens cost 4, wouldn't he be on his last year of his ELC. Montour isn't getting 6, and atleast it will be Okposo last year if he's not in Seattle. |

It will be interesting to see the roster decisions that are made.
If they are truly going the analytics focused route, neither Ristolainen nor Montour will be on the team whenever next season begins.
I'm far from convinced that will take place, but it does hearten me to see they have no interest in bringing back any of the UFA's except for Larsson, and the only reason they're not bringing him back is they think he doesn't want to be in Buffalo anymore.
The analytics back up the approach above to the UFA's. |

Truth.
This country is so broken already and now this July 4th protest is going to make it much worse.
I’ve been taking full advantage of conceal/carry unfortunately. I’m just waiting for some idiot to stick a gun in my face. Scary times. |

we (as in all of us) fight over things like stats and analytics all the time, yet we seem to be fighting a battle amongst ourselves that's fruitless...not because our beliefs are inadequate or somehow deficient, but moreso, imo, because we have no idea what this team was, is or will be...
what is the buffalo sabres identity?
that's the problem with having three gm's and four coaches post-tank |

Spot on Michael.
No identity at all, the last two GM's talked about fast, north/ south, yet the Coaches have implemented Defense first systems...largely because of a dearth of talent to effectively play a fast, north/south style game.
Adam's now has the opportunity to reshape this roster to fit the vision he has for it...whatever it is. |

Ion what is that vision do you think, what and who will hopefully be added to do that. With Botts being gone, I do hope they go forward with some of the things that were said about players, Tuch, Anderson, and is Cozens gonna be thrown to the wolves. |

Who knows what Adam's has as his vision, I don't think he has expressed it yet...it is still very early.
I am encouraged by his advocacy of Advanced Stats being more impactful in decisions/evaluations; and for the pursuit of Dudley even in a consultancy role. Those are two very positive steps forward IMO. If he announces additional resources who are strong in the Analytics arena then I see him backing up his statements with supporting actions.
Their first priority IMO as far as the roster goes is to bring in a bonafide 2C to shield Cozens for 2 years. Their second should be to rationalize the Defense, specifically identifying who the one RhD is to retain in addition to Joker from Risto, Montour, and Miller...then to pursue trades for the other two. For me, hands down it is Miller on the 3rd Pair while Joker assumes the 2nd Pairing role; which leaves Risto and Montour as trade bait to help fortify the F ranks. And YES, I too hope they continue to target Tuch and Anderson...two big, fast wingers who have proven scoring ability.
The work is still not done though, still need a suitable partner for Dahlin and Joker or Miller depending on where McCabe fits as 2nd or 3rd pairing. And they may need to restock portions of the Bottom six if all the UFA's are allowed to walk.
I would retain Hutton for his last year, if and only if his vision issue is completely resolved. If he can return to a .910 save percentage he would be a solid enough backup for 1 season. |

All good, could use some too tbh.
I've been wanting to do a build for a while now, been waiting on details from the cba so know what to explore. For example, I think the new rule on 35+ contracts can be advantageous for the Sabres.
Only thing is, the actual off-season being so far away we lack the concrete (or even flimsy) rumours that help us select realistic targets.
Truth is it's hard to pin point. Before the shut down I was told Monahan is likely on his way out. Now Im told none of the deals make sense and they may just hang on to him.
I think most armchair gm lineups are in limbo because well...the actual teams are too. - Michael Ghofrani
Michael, thanks for your grace, it is appreciated.
I don't think I was clear enough in my post suggesting a future topic for your blog.
What I meant was sort of a 2 step process for a roster rebuild:
-Step 1 : from a blank sheet, using a baseline of $81.5m, allocate it across all 23 roster positions. Strategically, where would you place your emphasis by position...i.e.
10%-13% at 1C,
5% - 8% at 1G
8% - 11% to 1RhD
Step 2: using the above, plug in existing commitments ( Eichel at 1C for $10m [12.5%]) that you wish to retain and then redistribute the remaing Cap to the open positions
While it wouldn't be "absolute", it would be useful for UFA, RFA signings and Trade discussions.
( one more thing for us to argue about, lol.)

I believe DeMelo should be that target for your RD for know, I believe Joker and Dahlin will be your top pair, just need to give Joker atleast 1 season as your 2nd pair RD. And the more I look and read, with what could be available Cozens might actually be are best option to start a 2C and let him just grow, people aren't gonna like that but he's not the 6th ranked prospect in hockey for nothing.
