Think you would get that much for Miller - Buff36
probably not, but a 2nd isn't out of the question...kings have a buttload of picks and a prospect pool that's considered amongst the best, if not the best, in the nhl...they also have a lot of cap-space for 2020-21 but what they don't have is many roster players for next season.... |

like i told fitz, it's under $75 million, which is a number I've been trying to work with...if there's more money to spend, then all the better for upgrades - Michael Pachla

Did the pegula's actually say they wouldn't spend to the cap?

no...and they probably will spend more than $75m...i was in a mood and decided that $75 million would be my target |

Yes they have done a very good job the last couple years, they have some players I wouldn't mind getting my hands on. Very strong down the middle. |

and having the second-overall pick makes them even stronger...everybody rightfully talks about ottawa, but the kings...oh my |

Hopefully if he stays, he can post more than his career season of 0.23 ppg.
For all the zone time that line generates, which is great, they can pot say ~0.35 ppg, or 25 -> 30sh points. Do some damage rather than merely killing time running in circles. - IonSabres
That would be great of course
But I’m quite happy that they just get the puck out of our end & consistently flip the ice against top6 players from the other team |

While they've soured on him (Monahan) quite a bit, based on what he would cost in terms of assets, the better plan seems to be finding 2 Centers who will drive play offensively and defensively, on a short term basis (3 years optimally) to allow Cozens etc. full time to develop and proper sheltering in terms of minutes and matchups. - kingcong39
Yeah, definitely
Don’t think we are gonna be able to snag a Brayden Point type guy though
U got any ideas?
The best 2way guy who might be available that I’ve thought of are Bonino & Henrique |

How come no one questions if sam wants to resign in buffalo?
He sat out thru part of camp last time, and its been nothing but losing for him as well.
Ror, risto, eichel, larrson everyone but sam?
Cant blame him either for wanting out, but never a word about ti. - Boss34
Bc he’s an RFA, so we have control over him still |

Ok, they will probably have some kind of internal payroll. Hoping they canned the "extras" 🙂
This franchise has been inept for a decade. Seems like a new approach is necessary. |

I'd say that blowing up the front office along with the scouting and development staffs may be construed as the beginnings of a new approach |

Ok that clears it up
Rfa's are always happy in the cities they play. They love their franchises, because the team has control over them.
Suprised sam wouldnt want out. |

There really hasnt been anything positive from either department.
Olloffson is about it.
Lots of failed scouting and development |

Ufa vs. Rfa is different for sure.
But, ror, erod, bogo, risto and possibly eichel have been under contract.
Someone suggested a 1 year deal. Maybe that's an insult?
Hard to gage his perspective. Probably likes playing with eichel. Still lots of coaches and losing.... - Boss34
I think what will be tough to determine if Sam takes a short term deal...
-is it bc he wants out ASAP?
-or bc he can cash in better in a few years when the Cap starts to go up? |

Everybody wants a 2C, either we get one that has defensive deficiency but good offensive and deal with the defense, or we get one that really isn't a real 2C or just a placeholder. Or do we just let the 6th best prospect in hockey right know take the reigns and run with it. The more you look into what's out there and what may be available, there really isn't much to go and get. - Buff36
If it comes down to it...
play Cozens at 2C with whatever wingers seem to suit him best,
and just shelter him as much as possible with offensive situations & best possible matchups
For example:
The Islanders give Barzal 58% offensive zone starts so far in his young 3yr career |

Someone suggested the 1 year deal with sam.
I'm in at 5.5-5.9. Gets him 1 year closer to ufa with arbitration rights.
I'm just thinking he should/could want out.
Hes gotta love riding with eichel and #1 pp minutes here |

I think you described the reality of the situation perfectly, as there is no ideal #2 Center out there who has no issues AND is actually available (Cirelli as an example). Every Center that is available has issues of some kind.
The challenging question then becomes do you go for a past, present, or future solution.
If you go past, you're looking at a Bonino, Henrique, or Backlund (Calgary) type, but then how much are you giving up and how long is the contract?
If you go present, then you're talking somebody like Strome or Monahan. If Cozens is the real deal and proves it by late next season, do you figure out what to do down the road? What about the expansion draft and protecting players?
If you go future, then you're trying to pry someone like Hintz from Dallas or Newhook from the Avalanche (as you mentioned yesterday). If you go that route, you would still need to bring in another Center for right now, likely via UFA, but how appealing are those options?
Filling the Center void for next season is a multi layered question without any simple solutions. - kingcong39
Nice breakdown
Tough questions to answer for a rookieGM with no real front office experience |

Is that what it comes down to, and then try and use your chips or other assets to try and make the team stronger around him. |

I brought up Haula the other day, very talented but you have to worry about that knee. Might be the best placeholder out there, could be the perfect 1yr deal candidate. - Buff36
And are we forgetting players are more unlikely to sign here as free agents than ever?
Can’t say for sure how we are viewed as an organization right now, but it can’t be good..... |

Jesus, Boss, for like the 37th time, I have no problem with Maroon as a 3rd or 4th liner, but I'm not paying him more than $1M. You wanted to sign him for like $3M and put him on Eichel's wing, FFS. |
