Not going down the Risto road again, I'm tired of that one. |

Take it how ever you want it, no changes, he wants out. He's tired of the musical chairs with GM's and Coaches. The Sabres will get screwed due to his contract if they have to move him, the return may not be as good. - SABRES 89
He could want out, but who cares? I bet there are quite a few players who want out right now. He signed that 8 year contract and has it. I hope they better the team but he doesn't have the leverage many people think.

What people ?what players ? you have to start winning or going in that direction to get players. - SABRES 89
Yeah I mean I'm a Holtz fan but I'll gladly trade the pick for a Cirelli or similar. |

89 yes you have to start winning, but trading away future pieces does not work all the time, we tried that and we are still in the same hole. |

The league would put pressure on the Sabres eventually. Having a guy like that sitting out and refusing to play is bad for the NHL's brand, not just the Sabres.

So keep picks and players and wait another 5 -6 years at the least ? that won't happen. This team is in no position to do that, the pressure is on. |

Boss, continuously. - TheSabresTaco
So, we sign sam for multiple years. 7 per
Eichel inevitably wants out, because you know -we suck again next year
We trade eichel
Stuck with skinner at 9 million and his 14 goals without eichel
Stuck with sam and his 45 points without eichel
Good times |

The NHL is a revenue sharing league. When one of its best players sits out, it loses revenue. There are 31 other owners/ownership groups that would not be happy. If that happens, those 31 owners tell the Pegulas to get their poop in gear. It's common sense.

Who's the last eichel type guy to sit out?
Eric lindros?
League can out all sorts of pressure on the Sabres.
Doesnt mean that the Sabres trade THEIR franchise center. |

Homie? Talks out of his arse. I think it's important to consider the source and message board posters are wee bit off often.

There's pieces on this team that can be used to make us better, I have no problem making trades to help us win know, but you always have to think to the future also if you want to sustain anything. We brought in good players and we still sucked because we didn't have enough pieces to go around them. We need pieces to fill the puzzle if trading the 8th helps with that fine, then do it, but make sure, that's all I am saying. |

When was the last top ten player to sit out? To eat 10 mil? When did the league tell a team to trade a franchise player? |

There wasn't one, unless maybe Eric Lindros like Boss said. And back then, the league didn't have revenue sharing. This would be uncharted territory.
The point is, if Eichel wants out, he will find a way to get out, because the Pegulas bearing down simply to make a statement goes against the league's and their own self-interests. There will be a message: either get him back on the ice or move him. |
