To have sheltered minutes you need a 2C & 4C to help out. Rushing Cozens is unwise & Casey isn’t close to ready better off in the AHL if it’s running. A 2C ain’t coming cheap & not likely happening let alone are they moved very often. Kerfoot is a waste to consider. You need a vet placeholder that can contribute in other roles while the team finds its identity.

It's only rushing if the player isn't ready, which Cozens appears to be. That doesn't mean they can't or shouldn't shelter him

Eichel sees all the oppositions top defensive line

Larsson's one of the best defensive centre's in the game, he usually sees the other team's top line.

That allows the 2nd line to get "softer" minutes, much like this year. That plus putting someone like Skinner on his line who likes to do the heavy lifting offensively anyhow, seems like a pretty sweet set up for Cozens.
