I think that most people who don't like him haven't watched the Marlies much. He's been nothing short of fantastic there and was easily the Marlies best player. I'm excited for his future and I very much hope the Leafs don't trade him.
Bolded- As long as the guy can skate, I've got no problem with the Leafs drafting them. Skating is too important in the game now. - GreatGigInTheSky
Unlike mark hunters draft where he drafted nothing but giant dmen that can't skate. Have any of them even made the ahl? |

Who did the leafs sign yesterday?
Oh ya..nevermind |

Unlike many, I like Liljegren. I think he has potential and I agree with slow playing him. What the Leafs might be thinking is adding is a bigger 2nd pair RHD with their second pick. Not a meathead but a guy with some size that can skate and defend. Might be wishful thinking though - winsix
I like Liljegren as Well and think he will pan out the better d-man compared w Sandin. (Liljegren a 2/3 and Sandin a 3/4).
Liljegren could be close to Yandle - with a bit less offensief upside, but better defensively |

Didn't he draft Dermott and Liljegren?

The Leafs will need to acquire a couple of LTIR contracts to stay cap compliant without shipping one of their high priced players out. |

Only saying there is more to winning than points. There is enough points to go around already.
A red hot goalie wins cups. So so goalies need top D play. What team ever has scored its way to a cup with neither of those? - Nighthawk
When Pittsburgh won their last cup , how was their D?
They did lose their 3 or 4 top dman or something like that. |

Hey dmnted- I saw your post about the McAvoy Nylander joke I made, and your joke right back went right over my head. When I read the Kessel trade was your reasoning I had a good laugh. That trade was wild. |

With the cap expected to be flat for a while it is going to be a problem signing Rielly and Ander7en or his replacement.
They are (frank)ed against the cap. - Aetherial
Frankly, I think every team is in "cap hell" with the Leafs being one of the better teams in terms of negotiating it.
Having said that, I wonder if Andy will be in the picture when he hits UFA. I wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs pivoted towards another netminder. |

The Leafs have shown amazing dexterity in circumcising the cap. Admittedly in order to bail themselves out of their own (frank)ups. Usually a bottomless source of inspiration. And having enough money to build an arena out of stacks of hundred dollar bills doesn't hurt. When someone says cap hell, I say Clarkson trade, Phaneuf to Sens. That's all you need to remember. |

Leafs in cap hell! Young players will need to be moved!!! Rinse, repeat..
Brian Burke went on TV and GUARANTEED Nylander was traded by June 2019 draft due to Leafs having no $ last year. - RogerRoeper

Playing good D wins you cups. Something the Leafs don’t do very well yet.

Ya, like someone isn’t going to give Rielly a raise if the Leafs don’t. |

Yep. The Leafs being poster boys for being in cap hell is hilarious.
I've long said majority of people have no idea and would be shocked by the cap #'s of other teams. |

But OMG Leafs are in cap hell!!!
17 NHL teams with less than 1 million in cap space... And leafs can trade any player. I really don't see that in other teams near the cap
Confused why Vancouver is already out of cap without seeing the playoffs. Same with Coyotees and Flyers. Dallas is (frank)ed with that old team. They better win this summer. Tampa can easily move deals, but they are in a mess this summer. LOL @ Lou in Long Island. |

Lol the Hawks are right (frank)ed if they want to keep Dylan Strome. And they have no goalies. |

The cap hell argument is stupid if your money is spent on valuable players. you can make an argument that the mix of assets is wrong but that is very different. A team in cap hell can't really address that problem because it's hard to trade overpriced players. There are plenty of very tradeable players that the Leafs could move if they decide to move in that direction. |

this time Dubas will need to be more creative in his juggling.
we well see more Clarkson type of deals for LTIR space. |
