Glad you’re ok with the Orange Man’s hate speech and HIS racism. I never said (nor do I believe) that all or most of his supporters - or people that don’t agree with me - are racists or fascists.
The President is. If he cared as much about the people of this country as he does about statues of - and army bases named for - traitors, slaveholders (and losers), we might be able to accomplish things.
If you think that most - or even a good percentage - of the “left” is as you say, you need to expand your sources beyond the “fake news” of the Fox analysts, the Trump family, the Keileigh McEnanys, Kellyanne Conways, and the President himself - WE AREN’T WHAT YOU SAY - we certainly aren’t what Trump proclaims the 60% of the country that opposes him.
Had we been acting on the wise words and wisdom of Dr. King in the 52 years since his death, perhaps there would be no need for a Black Lives Matter movement. - StLBravesFan
If you don't give us what we want, we'll burn down the village. I can talk violence and intolerance, but I demand you be inclusive in all your words. I'm gonna burn businesses to the ground. If you call me out for it, you're a big meanie.
You're 1st and 3rd paragraphs are a nice example of the utter hypocrisy to which I referred. You did say I'm okay with Orange's hate speech (which is a classic example of the do you still beat you wife question). Then you allege that the few whack jobs of the left are not representative of all of the left.
By the way, thanks for bringing pure, non-hockey politics to the hockey board for the 278th time.

Your basing that scenario on the nhl not giving each team 2 buyouts that won't count towards the cap ? If I understood your point? My point is based on the nhl coming to reality that keeping the salary cap flat for 2 to 3 years with no relief is unsustainable. - Taylorst1
The owners ultimately decide on compliance buyouts and they don't want any part of it right now. Teams have very limited cash on hand and no incoming revenue from the ticket buying public. And most billionaires don't give money away. |

What utter hypocrisy. The left says you're a racist if you are a conservative. They support the destruction of property and advocate violence against those that disagree with their views. The hate and intolerance spewed by the left is rampant. This began well before Orange Man came down the escalator.
- mohel
I guess I will try unpacking this by saying, I guess I am the left...a church going christian who does good works through volunteerism.
Whenever some says the left or "they" the left or for that matter the Right , and "they"...I start getting riled.
If you want to say "some" of, I have no problem.
and I just want to reassure you that all of my "left" friends dont think you by being a conservative, you are a racist.
We do believe that like the Avenue Q song from the musical. "everyone's a little racist, sometimes!" and we do believe we all even the "left" gets caught up in the things around us that due to our local world perspective, displays institutional racism.
No one is blaming you in the same way we were in my era brought up to view women's roles, work and "place" and that was due to socialization too.
If someone plays to their base, the speech is filled with wording that evokes a message on that persons emphasis as to viewing certain things positively and negatively.
I am not so sure that focusing yourself on a boogey man called the left helps us move forward...it is a roadblock.
I think we need to read the post right here and stop using this board for non hockey generalities...

Okay since we're not talking hockey, what's everyone making on the grill today for the Holiday? Chicken kebabs at my house. Meat and vegetable all in one! Also I think it's about time for a gin and tonic.

I'm a proud supporter of the President. I use to be a blind sheep like many on the left to keep voting Democrat, and yet the outcome never changed .
The establishment on both sides , bushes , Clinton's created a scam that bloated the federal government, worked in cahoots with certain donors who pushed for more illegal immigration, wars while watching middle America become hollowed out and millions of cities run by Democrats have high crime .
Obama if you did your research he is a marxist , he supported every terrorist organization from the weather underground , the mullah , Hezbollah etc.
The media and colleges are filled with anti American. People, especially the colleges who secretly support antifa . Antifa is a extension of the democratic party which formed in Europe after the Berlin wall fell to fight fascism but has now become the thing they fought. Plenty of our democratic leaders a d corporations are secretly financing antifa and members of congress kids are in antifa , George soros is a huge backer. Also BLM is a marxist group that is part of the far left , they have even said so.
If you where elected president and set up and spied on you would be irate. Obama and biden along with Clinton started the Russia hoax along with government officials who abused their authority.
Don't take my word look at the treasure grove of documents released and the inspector general testimony.
People will go to jail , however if you vote democrat your voting for a marxist group of people. Not your JFK Democrat party

Does Carlsson play both sides equally well. Murphy played ok on his other side, but is better not playing his off side - correct? I recall Hjalmarsson playing his off side well, although using his backhand was a.weakness - correct? - jhawk59
At the AHL level, Carlsson is fine on either side with no glaring weakness if he has to play RD as a lefty. Too early to say how he will fare switching sides in the NHL. |

Training camps are scheduled to open on July 13, with teams slated to arrive in the hub cities of Toronto and Edmonton by July 26, with games scheduled for Aug. 1. Absent of a COVID-19 outbreak that shuts down play, the Stanley Cup would be on track to be awarded in the first week of October.
The Alexis Lafreniere Draft Lottery sweepstakes will be held on Aug. 10, with the NHL Draft to follow in mid-October. Free agency would take place in the fall for the first time in league history on Nov. 1.
> Opt-out: Any player can opt-out of Return to Play this summer for any reason and there is no penalty or discipline for doing so. There was originally talk that a player opting out for anything other than an underlying medical condition would not be eligible for a playoff share and would not receive the final quarterly pension credit for the season.
> Playoff share: The playoff bonus pool is doubling this season from $16 million to $32 million. A player on a team that loses in the best-of-five qualifying round will receive $20,000. Players in each round will see bonuses increase from there, with a share from the Stanley Cup winning team worth $240,000 per player.
> Term: The new CBA will have a term of six years, ensuring labour peace through at least 2025-26. It can also be extended one year if the escrow debt from 2019-20 owing to owners exceeds $125 million at the end of the deal.
> Salary cap: The salary cap’s upper limit will be frozen for 2020-21 at $81.5 million and remain there until hockey-related revenue returns to $4.8 billion - the amount projected for this 2019-20 season before the pandemic hit.
Once HRR rebounds to $4.8 billion, the upper limit will be calculated using a new formula that relies on the actual HRR from two seasons ago, plus the projected HRR from the immediately prior season.
> Olympic participation: As reported, NHL players will participate in the 2022 Beijing Olympics and the 2026 Milan Olympics, pending negotiation with the IIHF and IOC.
> No signing bonus limits: There will be no changes to the signing bonus system in the new CBA. During negotiations, the NHL was believed to have sought to limit signing bonuses to a maximum of 50 per cent of the total contract compensation.
> Final paycheque: The players’ final paycheque from the 2019-20 regular season season, which had been deferred until this point, will go to repaying their debt to owners. That totalled roughly $140 million USD.
> Escrow cap: While they work to repay their debt to owners, players cannot pay a higher escrow percentage than:
2020-21: 20 per cent
2021-22: 14-18 per cent (TBD)
2022-23: 10 per cent
2023-24: 6 per cent
2024-25: 6 per cent
2025-26: 6 per cent
> Salary deferral: Players will defer 10 per cent of both salary and signing bonus for the 2020-21 season, which will be paid back to players in three equal instalments in 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26.
> No-trade/no-move clauses: All no-trade and no-move clauses will travel with the player in a trade, even if the player is traded before the clause kicks in.
Example: The Montreal Canadiens traded defenceman P.K. Subban days before his no-move clause kicked in. The Nashville Predators, the team that acquired Subban, subsequently voided Subban’s no-move clause, then making him susceptible later to a trade to New Jersey.
> Outlawing front loaded deals: For high-value, front loaded long-term deals (at least 6 years, worth at least 7.5 per cent of cap), salary variability from the highest year to the lowest year will go from 50 per cent down to 35 per cent.
> Minimum salary: The NHL minimum salary is increasing from $700,000 this season to $750,000 next season. The new league minimum salary is:
2020-21: $750,000
2021-22: $750,000
2022-23: $750,000
2023-24: $750,000
2024-25: $775,000
2025-26: $800,000 |

Cap friendly shows the following defensemen under contract:
Keith
Seabrook
Maatta
Murphy
Koekkoek
Beaudin
Boqvist
Carlsson
Seeler (I thought he had a Rockfish contract, but ok....)
deHaan
Gilbert
Regula
Kris
Tuolola
McCoshen
Brennan
Mitchell
Of the younger / non rostered, certainly Beaudin, Boqvist, Carlsson, Gilbert, Kris, Mitchell have a realistic chance for the show.
Are any of the other non-rostered possibilities? What about not-yet-signed? |

Theo, out of these two deficiencies that you mentioned for Strome, his defensive weakness is what is most concerning. Our cup teams had many defensively responsible forwards, that is one aspect that this team is missing. I like Strome, but if he wants too much money, then we have to go in another direction, and Stan has to get back a decent return. - Angotti
I would agree, Strome's defensive weaknesses is the more concerning between that and foot speed. There are other ways to make up for subpar skating. Not so much with poor defense.
If the team wants to rise up to the upper echelon of teams, every line needs to play a baseline level of defense so they're not dominated without the puck. Strome needs to play his part, especially as a center.
An option is move him to wing and find a center who will play defense. Or trade Strome for assets.
Assuming he re-signs a modest deal, I say retain Strome and continue to develop him as a top 9 center if not top 6. |

The hoax is the corporate owned media can help build DIVISION through their outlets as you have shown us. |

In my original post I said saad leaves you wanting more from him and believing he will deliver .
Imo Chicago's compounding problems , age , structure, youth, coaching , etc seem to put stress on to many players , strome. I'll concede this year has been a set back for him . But toews has 3 more years and of those years he will be the teams 1 or 2 C for 10.5 million reasons, after his contract is up I'd be surprised if he was given another contract , based on his age and the salary cap situation. - Taylorst1
On Saad, I was actually agreeing with you more or less. He does want you craving more offense but he does deliver in other areas of the game and is a proven playoff performer.
On Toews, I think the Hawks re-sign him once his current contract elapses. Unless things go horribly sideways, he retires a Blackhawk. His next deal will obviously be for much less AAV and term, hopefully as a 3C at that point in his career. |

Of the young D, I would agree with your list of those who have a realistic shot at playing in the NHL in some regular fashion:
Boqvist, Beaudin, Carlsson, Mitchell, Krys, Gilbert
Prospects worth developing:
Demin, Galvas, Moberg, Regula, Vlasic
Good as gone:
Brennan, McCoshen, likely Tuulola
Not sure what to make of:
Ess, Laavainen |
