What long term? Cap is stuck till revenues get back to $4.5B. That could be a couple of years. If he takes a bridge till then he’s three years older and competing with 3 years of UFAs who are likely doing the same thing. Who knows there could be fewer teams then. This year’s UFAs are (frank)ed.

Maroon is slow, but brings the pain and will fight Chara. Anyone who fights Chara deserves some credit. Has good hands around the net. But, he's a pylon and can't back check to save his life.

If the Leafs re-sign Clifford they lose a 2nd rd pick. I don't think Dubas wants to do that. I like Clifford but a 4th line winger for a 2nd rd pick seems like a Lou Lamoriello move.

If the cap is staying flat they need to keep any money aside for Rielly and a goalie AND they need to hope all the young defensemen pan out or the forwards grow up and find their own end of the ice once in a while.
